Crazy User Request - Print Report

Post by BigDSter »

Just going through my outstanding TM1 requests from users and I've come across this one again.

Scenario.

1/ User takes a slice from TM1 and then proceeds to build upon the spreadsheet
2/ User at a later stage wants to take a non-updating copy of the report
3/ User opens up existing spreadsheet and doesn't refresh.
4/ User presses Print Report to get a copy of data

However at this point it breaks down from their point of view, as they want to have a static copy of the data as it was the last time the excel file was saved, not what it may be now...

This would be fine normally but Print Report seems to force a refresh of the TM1 data.

I know this sounds a bit odd, considering the whole point of TM1 is having up to date data, but you know users

The alternative would be a copy/paste special but the workbook has a lot of tabs, well they are accountants after all ;)

Big D!

The latest copy of the tm1 toolbar here does what you ask, alternatively can't they past special / values. I never really got using the print report functionality to remove the TM1 formula. Mostly because I've found it quite buggy...

if your organisation has TM1 Web, you can ask the users to open the Websheet and snapshot to Excel. The exported Excel file will contain all formatting and numbers as at that point, but without any TM1 formula. hence, the data will be static.

Brilliant thanks Steve, works a treat.

I've used the tracer before but hadn't seen that bit of the tool
