Windows installer package error - TM1

Post by shockwave »

Hi All,

Trying to uninstall TM1 becuase of this strange issue I am getting when browsing within the subset editor, the first element appears to have dissapeared but you can still kind of see it:

Not sure how to fix it so, I thought a simple uninstall would work, and it appears that I need a certain installer package ( but which one???, I tried "windows installer 4.5" http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en ) but it does not appear to have fixed the issue and I get the following error:

Can anyone seen this problem b4 and can help me resolve?

Thanks guys,

Dave

I knew I'd seen this before:

Look for Steve Vincent's postings in that thread.

I've seen something very similar, but it doesn't have anything to do with needing a different installer package.

When I was writing a long-winded article on installing services recently I delberately stuffed up a couple of aspects of the installation so that I could document what happened if someone did it by accident rather than design. One of these was to install the package without specifying an appropriate login and password for the TM1 services. The uninstall package couldn't get rid of the TM1 Admin Server service, and generated a message similar to the one that you describe. In your case, it could be an issue with the permissions that you uninstalled under vs the ones that you installed under. You may not need to worry about it. In the case that I described the service in question had been flagged for deletion, even though the package couldn't do the actual deletion. Rebooting the computer was enough to sort that out. Try rebooting the computer and see whether you can reinstall TM1 then. If that doesn't work, post again with details.

Dave, could you please update your profile (using the User Control Panel at the top left) to show your version? Preferably to show one which exists. ;) (I'm guessing that it's 9.1.3)

Thanks for the link Alan!! ( go celtics) That appears to have solved the issue. Just following what steve had wrote and it fixed the issue:

Cheers

NO NO NO NO there is an easy fix, we've had it here on a number of occasions.

The fault relates to the relationship of the window size with your desktop size. Don't know why it happens but the solution is straight forward. The issue is given away by the 1st 2 elements of any subset editor overlapping. All dims will do it because TM1 stores the last used window size in your profile. All you need to do is open the editor, resize the window to anything different, then click CANCEL on the editor. Hitting OK as you have found out will crash Excel. When you hit cancel it updates the last used window size, open the editor again and you'll find the 1st 2 elements look normal again and it'll work fine.

We have about 450 users spread over several TM1 instances here and i've probably seen it happen about 10 times in 2.5 years.

If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.

The new icons are supposed to distract your attention from that... ;)
