Time dimensions - best practises

Post by Toto »

Hello,

as I am very new to TM1 I have a question regarding time dimensions:

If I need to create time dimensions for months, quartals and years, what is the better approach:
a) to create a dimension with e.g. elements named "Jan-2005", "Feb-2005", "Mar-2005" or
b) to create a two dimensions with elements "Jan", "Feb" and the other dimension "2005", "2006" etc.. ?

I read something about a "continues" time structure, but I could not find any settings for it. Are there any settings regarding time dimensions I should be aware of?

Thanks a lot!

goes into this in quite considerable depth. My views are in the thread (2 dimensions better) but the points made by Steve Rowe and Paul Simon seem pretty sound to me.
