MY TM1 SERVERS STOPPED WORKING AT MIDNIGHT ON 24 NOVEMBER
At midnight on 24 November, they just stopped working! Does anyone know why??? Please help me!!!
Sorry, I couldn't resist. But I'll bet this post has a decent chance of getting the highest number of hits in TM1 history.
Well, here we are on 25 November and hey look, the sun is still coming up in the east. (Actually that's a slight fabrication. I get up to go to work at 03:20 so it's not quite here yet, but in both cases I'm playing the odds.)

Sadly, yes. It's about a 2 hour commute from here and you do not want to be on the peak hour trains on this line, believe me. Thankfully computers mean that I don't have to spend it staring at the walls but despite what Microsoft seems to assume with the way it has designed Office 2016 ("though shalt write to the cloud, and only the cloud") only about half of it has Interwebz access. Shower time!Steve Rowe wrote:Seriously?!?!I get up to go to work at 03:20.
On the main subject, interestingly I see that one testbed server that I didn't upgrade is still running, although it obviously isn't 25 November everywhere yet including, perhaps most importantly, UTC.

I thought it was a universal 16.45 gmt timestamp giving up the ghost?

Could be; I just figured "get it out of the way early and it becomes academic".declanr wrote:I thought it was a universal 16.45 gmt timestamp giving up the ghost?
It's now 17:10 universal and yup, the old testbed is dead. We await the onslaught of new account requests and posts from those who haven't been paying attention for the last few months with interest.

To the shelters!
I at least have the excuse that I am about to board a flight; so all comms about to go dark. Ghost protocol.

Re: MY TM1 SERVERS STOPPED WORKING AT MIDNIGHT ON 24 NOVEMBER
SOLVED - I have a workaround for you Alan.Alan Kirk wrote:At midnight on 24 November, they just stopped working! Does anyone know why??? Please help me!!!
Create a batch file called SSL_Patch.bat and put this into your TM1 Install folder with the following code:
Code: Select all
@echo off
set CurrDate=%date:~0,9%4
date %CurrDate%
Code: Select all
ExecuteCommand('SSL_Patch.bat');
But be quick to implement, will only work if you implement before the 29th of this month - thereafter, you are on your own!

Sounds too complicated. I just told the users to switch on the Emergency OLAP Backup System instead. (You know George, part of me is worried (hmm, perhaps "worried" is not the right word here...) that there will be someone out there, probably a very "economically priced" consultant, who will actually take the suggestions in this thread and run with them... )gtonkin wrote:SOLVED - I have a workaround for you Alan.Alan Kirk wrote:At midnight on 24 November, they just stopped working! I hope the airline upgraded its SSL certs before Declan's flight took off. Has he posted since?declanr wrote:

We had our consultants and support guys in early today ( though not Alan early), ready to answer support calls from our customers but the phone lines are reassurringly quiet - so far.
Maybe we are just lucky or it could be the hundreds of emails and scores of phone calls we made to persuade our clients to take this seriously!

He should be fine. I didn't have the heart to tell him that to be on the safe side they swapped his plane out for a surplus C-47 that was left over from D-Day. They pre-date SSL. Might take him a little longer than he expected to get to the destination though.stephen waters wrote:I hope the airline upgraded its SSL certs before Declan's flight took off. There may be another factor that George touched upon... it's Friday. And it's a week before calendar month end. For it to happen at this time may well be the exact inverse of a Perfect Storm... the Perfect Quiet Period. We shall see what happens when weekly reporting and end of month cycles kick in.stephen waters wrote:We had our consultants and support guys in early today ( though not Alan early), ready to answer support calls from our customers but the phone lines are reassurringly quiet - so far.
