Hi
Firstly thanks for all your help in the past, been lurking through the forums when I had problems with TM1.
We have been trying to push our user base into using CAFE against TM1 10.2.2 for various reasons i.e. performance, licence costs et instead of using the BI package that is linked to our TM1 database.
However, due to some unforeseen issues we will have to be moving the application web to a new server. So
http://ServerhostnameOld:9510 will be come http://ServerhostnameNew:9510
What this means is that each user for each CAFE report will have to use the "Update System Utility".
This will be a tedious exercise for our users. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can make this change with the least amount of hassle? I have tried masking the servername to a generic but the inclusion of the port seems to be causing issues with the redirect.

Re: CAFE & Application web server change
Sorry I don't have any clever suggestion here. Only that it is always worthwhile to define and order a DNS entry from corporate IT so that your users only ever need to be concerned with something like http://awesomebitool.mycompany.prod and let the DNS take care of resolving the IP. Then if the host name or IP change IT flicks a switch and the users remain blissfully unaware anything has happened at all. Also good for disaster recovery etc.
But hindsight is wonderful.

Please place all requests for help in a public thread. I will not answer PMs requesting assistance.

That right there is the truth. For some reason I never considered having to move servers.lotsaram wrote:Sorry I don't have any clever suggestion here. The "problem" I'm facing now is that for any existing report, even after using the option suggested by lotsofram, CAFE keeps a hold of the system URL somewhere in the excel file and recreates it as a connection option. So no choice but to go through with the users and have them use the update tool. Sigh.
Hindsight is such a wonderful tool.
