Mornin' all,
I've done a bit of tinkering with Perspectives. I wanted to look at CAFE too. They're both plug-ins / add-ons for Excel... can they co-exist on the same machine, i.e. my laptop, which is also where my TM1 is.
Can Perspectives and CAFE co-exist?

they can exist parallel indeed but if you want to use worksheet functions in CAFE you should not run Perspectives at the same time
If you only use crosstabs and flex views in CAFE then you can use both parallel
there is a separate xll in cafe for the worksheet functions, disable that if you want to run Perspectives parallel (sorry, do not remember the name, it should be documented somewhere in the CAFE doc)

You can use Perspectives and CAFE in parallel, AND use worksheet functions, that's what my project is doing right now for almost 2 years.mvaspal wrote:they can exist parallel indeed but if you want to use worksheet functions in CAFE you should not run Perspectives at the same time

But my understanding is if you configure CAFE by installing the xll file for using worksheets functions, then Perspectives is in conflict with CAFE as Excel add-ins.
I was just thinking about sparing some time to reproduce this conflict situation on pc

Re: Can Perspectives and CAFE co-exist?
The way I run them is to have the Tm1 perspectives start menu item as a shortcut on my desktop and then the MS Excel short cut on there too.
So if I want CAfE, its the MS Excel shortcut (doesnt load Persp) and if I want Persp, then its the Persp shortcut which automatically loads the Persp add in, has the CAFE tab available, but not loaded until you click it and then the Cognos button in CAFE.
Does that answer the question?
