I was asked to cut one of my two scheduled trainings. I figured I would get more out of the .NET training I am attending then forum.

Well, yes, I do concede the downside there; having to return to archaic measurement units like degrees Fahrenheit. (And miles, pounds and ounces, gallons, acres, pecks and quarts, roods and hogsheads.)

It's been 34 years since we got rid of that {bleep}, and it ain't long enough ago for my liking.

On the plus side they at least had decimal currency long before either of us. (43 years since we got rid of the accursed pounds, shillings and pence and again, not long enough for my taste. I'd hate to have to have developed a TM1 model in THAT currency system...)

I hear you on the miles, pounds, etc (as a rceovering engineer myself), but I prefer F over C as it's more granular; a 1C shift is 2x (absolute) that of 1F. Then again, England has the weirdest mix of measurements I've ever seen. People are weighed in stone (wtf, a pound derivative anyway), but everything at the grocery is metric. The again, speeds are mph, distances are miles, and pubs sell in pints. Don't even get me started on the other stuff, like how the 1st floor is one above ground level. All told, we've enjoyed our time here, so maybe a full wasn't really in order. I'm just looking forward to the move being DONE. There are few things I hate in life more....

BTW, anyone 'round these parts going to the Palo demo in London on the 20th? I'll be there.

Matt - unfortunately Jedox did the old Applix thing and forgot we don't ALL live and work in London, so they have a half day worth of content in London starting before the first train gets in from the civilised parts of the country.

They'll learn.

I am saving myself for the promised Northern event when I can save a fortune in travel expenses, wear my sparking clogs and fill up on black pudding.

There will be no next year. At least, not for a stand-alone Cognos Forum. However, there will be some sort of Cognos Forum in the IBM IOD conference to be held at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, 25-28 Oct 2010. Not sure if they will do the same for the EMEA IOD forum next year.

Looking at the Mandalay Bay web site, guests can "see sharks of all kinds, along with ... piranha...and the rare golden crocodiles". Not sure if that is referring to the attendees from IBM or the shark reef aquarium.
