Negative number issue with TM1 10.2.2 FP3

Post by blackhawk »

We are getting some reports of people who have upgraded to 10.2.2 FP3 and now when they type in negative numbers, what actually gets put into TM1 is a positive number. Has anyone seen this?

It scare the hell out of me when I come across this topic as I am about to install FP3 on a production instance.

Did a quick test with negative numbers input via cube viewer, Excel slice, TM1Web, Active Form and all seems ok.

Any detail to share ?

I too have tried various tests through ActiveForms, Slice, Data Spread from Excel, Data Spread within Cube viewer, direct input into Cube viewer etc. Cannot replicate.

Please give more detail if there is a specific case that triggers the issue.

We had issues in this space with an early release of insight, the negative number had to be large. Was fixed though. Just mentioning in case it is a regression problem.

Let me check that out. Thanks. I think they did a back-out already so I may not be able to re-create their environment. I was wondering if someone else had seen this so I can shed some light and perhaps track down if the upgrade had a bad install or if it was something others had seen too. This kind of stuff scares me too.

They also reported some kind of scrolling issue with FP3.

Ok all, I have a little more information, though I will say that we need to do some deeper testing to be sure that this is the exact issue.

It appears that this negative number issue is occurring when an XLS sheet is converted to XLSX and then subsequently displayed on FP3. Some of the sheets which were originally created via XLSX don't seem to have this problem.

What is unclear also is that during the conversion there was an upgrade to TM1 10.2.2 from 9.5.2. I would expect that the upgrade of TM1 should not have any effect on the XLS to XLSX conversion, but that may also be a potential factor.

Hope that helps someone from losing all their hair.

we are also currently facing the same issue. The following were the observations:-
1. When we enter a value in the cell, the first digit is getting trimmed.
Eg - If I enter 10 , only 0 gets entered in the cell
If I enter 320, only 20 gets entered (first digit i.e 3 gets trimmed automatically)
2. The issue is only observed with 10.2.2 fix pack 3 and not with fix pack 2.

We have raised a PMR for the same.

Eww! Ouch...That is not good.

I don't know that we are experiencing the first digit issue, just the negative. Let me see if I can substantiate that on our FP3 install.

This is a big oops to get through QA.

I still have not been able to replicate any issues with negatives.

@AniketTambavekar - Please can you confirm if you are using Cube view, Perspectives, Architect, TM1 Web, PM etc. when you say:
1. When we enter a value in the cell, the first digit is getting trimmed.
This may help the rest of us.

p.s my build number for server is 10.2.20300.93 (64-bit) and client is the same but 32-bit (some components reflect as 10.2.20300.68 but this seems par for the course on releases)

We have also noticed the issue with first number being trimmed.

I was actually unaware of the fact that HF3 had been taken offline.
Glad IBM is taking is seriously enough to get it fixed as soon as possible.

I was told, that the error only occurs in Excel sheets published in Web, if the respective DBR/DBRW does not refer to a stargate view. So, if the VIEW function is used it should be ok.

There appears to be an interim fix now.

Relates to APAR PI40539 - This update fixes an issue with entering data in a TM1Web websheet on empty or zero value (0) leaf cells that are not referencing a VIEW statement in their formula.

Download links are back.

I've installed the interim fix and first tests are looking good, no more trimming of the first digit.
