I'm sure that you, Matt and myself aren't the only ones to make such an observation. I proxied into the server this morning and set the files to download since the server itself is the only thing connected to the network long enough for them to finish. Since the packages seem to get larger with each iteration, I'm not looking forward to the next version; by 10.5 it'll probably be a race against time between the server's bandwidth and the theoretical heat death of the universe.

After triggering the downloads I went away and prepared a slow cooked roast dinner, and put my feet up to watch both seasons of HBO's Rome while I waited. I figure that if the server's bandwidth is feeling muscular this weekend then the downloads might be done around the time that I get to the battle of Actium.

The only thing that I can figure is that it's a stealthy anti-piracy device. Size of the original server install, 3 and a bit Metric F*Tons. Size of the original 32 bit client - the one that is really a 664kb add-in and a few libraries - 1.2 Metric F*Tons. Every fix pack there after, a couple more Metric F*tons. I can imagine a Dr. Evil like character sitting in a basement in Armonk rubbing his hands together and saying to himself "Try putting THAT through DropBox, I dare you, mwu-hu-ha-ha!!!"

FP3 is taking a little holiday.

From the FP3 download page:
IBM wrote:*****NOTICE May 12, 2015: Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 has been temporarily removed from the download site while we investigate a potential issue.
Takes you back to the old days. Now where did I put Kyro's thread about whether TM1 is getting better...

The problem is with TM1Web, surfaced as the problem reported in the thread :

http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11620

We managed to simulate the issue easily.
Serious enough for IBM to withdraw FP3.

Out of interest can anyone else still download FP3 from fixcentral?

I can still get it... maybe IBM just thought that listing it as removed in a technote would stop users from finding it... because everyone reads technotes before deciding what fixpack to go for...

There's now an Interim Fix for FP3:
Flash (Alert)

Abstract
An Interim Fix is available for IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 server.

Content
This update fixes an issue with entering data in a TM1Web websheet on empty or zero value (0) leaf cells that are not referencing a VIEW statement in their formula.

For details on the issue, see APAR PI40539.

Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 download links and install instructions are available on the IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 Fix Pack 3 download page.
The "details" link cited is pretty brief, but the nature of the problem (Web sending wrong numbers) is clear enough:
Error description
After the Upgrade from Tm1 10.2.2 FP2 to FP3 a Tm1 WebExcelsheet cuts always the first figure when you are inserting a value.

This is only happening if the cell?s value is ?0? before entering.

For example: You insert the value 350000 and the value 50000 is sent to TM1

Customer went back to FP2 to avoid this behavior

I've had word that the suspension was listed when the interim fix came out. You still use the original package (if you have it) but should lay the IF over the top of it. For future downloaders the advice I've received is that when you download FP3 for TM1 10.2.2, the download will automatically include the interim fix (which is apparently being labelled UP1, probably for Update Package.

NB: Make sure that the download's file name (for 64 bit) is up_plananalytics_winx64h_10.2.5230.1009_ml.tar.gz and that It's file size is 156.353 KB. It isn't listed separately on the Fix Central page but appears when you get to the FP3 download page.

Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 Interim Fix:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... SS9RXT-_-E
Intended for users that have downloaded previously broken FP3, so downloaded FP3 before 2015-05-19.

Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 (already includes above interim fix):
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg24039764

Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP3 Fix Lists
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg27041360

Interesting to me is that the name of "FP3" is the same as it was few weeks ago when FP3 was broken and removed from download page. I would at least expect to have a fixpack name FP3a (this is conversion used in IBM DB2 relation database to indicate that there was a new small update of officially released by removed fixapck).

Turns out I had accidentally downloaded the IF before realising it existed; thanks for the update making me think to actually check see what was in my downloads folder.
After updating the issues seem to have been resolved; annoying that the "updated" date on the FP is still listed as April... I'm ok with it having the same name but at least update the date stamp on it; instead of providing it as a bloody puzzle!

10.2.2 Fix Pack 4 (10.2.2.4) has been released.

The main page will be found here.

The release notes will be found here.

The fix lists will be found here.

I should of course note the reinclusion of TM1 Top in this release, but in line with IBM's stated intent (stated at the Cubewise conference that was held last month in Sydney) of reducing the locking times in TM1, it's the new temporary objects for TI, discussed by George in this thread that would be the real headline news for this release. This looks like a potentially very cool innovation which has the potential to bump performance in TI-intensive environments.

The downloads are:
  • 524.25 meg for the client (umm, Ohhhhkaaaay...); and
  • 1.56 gig for the server side. Hey, at least it's not 2 or 3...
Time to put the roast on!

For anyone who missed it there was a Flash alert about security vulnerabilities yesterday.

For 10.2.0 the recommendation is to update to Cognos TM1 10.2.0.2 Interim Fix 5. For 10.2.2 the recently released FP4 (referred to in the most recent post before this one) should contain the fix.

Links to the CAFE and Cognos Infight FP4 patches will be found here.

If you are using SSL for TM1Web/Applications, upgrading to 10.2.2 FP5 overwrites the startup scripts
See IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 Fix Pack 5: Preserving SSL configuration settings during update for more details.

I think it's really confusing to have a different naming for public and non-public interim fixes. So this public 10.2.2 FP6 IF1 is identical with the on demand 10.2.2 FP6 IF6.

Agree. Although I would have no hesitation in using stronger language than "confusing". Idiotic might be more apt. If it isn't public then it should be a hot fix and not an interim fix.

Also adding to the "confusion" is that the definition of public fix seems to now be changed to "available on fix central" vis-a-vis available for download from PassportAdvantage or PartnerWorld.

Very confusing indeed.
Please place all requests for help in a public thread. I will not answer PMs requesting assistance.

From this morning's feed:
As of TM1 10.2.2 Fix Pack 7 (FP7), you can prevent automatic TM1 server shutdowns when network issues block access to transaction logs. This feature is enabled through the use of three new tm1s.cfg parameters.
Nice one. I've only encountered this once, and not for a number of years, but it's always annoyed me that a transient disk issue will cause the server to drop like a brick. That said... I'm not completely sure that this addresses the issue where a disk gets choked by a feral process of some kind which causes a hard disk space problem; this may not give you enough time to fix it. Still, it's better than the old "I'm outa here!, thunk" approach.

There's been a double-header update to the main post this time.

First, 10.2.2 FP7. Yes, we know it's been out for a few days now but the link finally came through the e-mail feed and if IBM can be late in releasing it, I can be late in posting the link into the releases thread.

10.2.0.2 IF8. Yes, those who are still on 10.2.0 haven't been totally forgotten about. This release addresses some vulnerability and security issues as described here.

There have been two new Interim Fixes posted.
10.2.2. FP7 IF1. This one is mainly about fixes related to server crashes; and
10.2.0 FP2 IF9. This one is about security vulnerabilities.
