Had you been logged in but inactive for a while? I've seen that before when the server has a timeout parameter set. I've had a cube view open, been to a meeting and came back after the timeout period. As soon as i tried to do anything in the view, i got that kind of error.
If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.

I get this message if I have rebuilt a dimension whilst the cube viewer is open.
