Users unable to edit data in Contributor though owner

Hi,
I have an issue where users are unable to edit though they are the owners of that node in Contributor.
The temporary solution we figured was to change the ownership by admin and allow user to take over again. This happened when the application was down and we applied a previously imported snapshot to }tp_application_state_abc. Any ideas on how we can alleviate this?

Forgot to add, we are 10.2.2 version.
