Cube optimizer in Vizier

Post by macsir »

I am using Vizier to optimize my cubes. I am curious about the three methods in it as listed in the pic.
Usually, I use standard TM1 re-ordering dim wizard to test the performance but that takes long time if you have lots of dims and try to test with different combinations. And the system function doesn't give me the best optimization.
I am wondering what difference would those three methods provide? I mean based on optimiztion time and reduced memory percentage if anyone uses all of them in the past?
Currently, I only tested with Vizier method and it always take very time to optimize (a huge cube takes around 11 hours to run) but the final reduced memory percentage is very good. Has anyone tried other two methods? Any idea would be appreciated.

PS, this is not Vizier commerical, I am just an ordinary end user. :D

And I found one bug in Vizier method. Although it tells me the percentage is negative after testing, the final cube size is larger than what it is before applying the method. So, it is not always accurate. :?

And if you reorder any control cube, it will give you a failure error anyway. Looks like it doesn't allow you to do so. :D

You need to restart the TM1 service to see the real change in memory usage. Right after reordering your memory usage will increase, because internally TM1 will have allocated memory both for the old-order cube and the new-order cube.

No, but most cubes are fine and can be displayed with new sizes without restarting? :ugeek:
