Hi All
I am encountering issues in the installation of the samples databases in IBM Cognos Express 10.1.0
I'm running the system on a server with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1x64, 4GB RAM and 60GB hard drive. This is a VM.
Following the installation guide I have installed the IBM Cognos Express Manager and installed the four products:- Advisor, Planner, Reporter and Xcelerator.
I've noted that to install the samples I need to unzip the samples.zip file from my downloaded software folder, and unzip them into the installationpath/cognos express folder and run the restoreIDS_samples.bat file, however, even when running this file "as administrator", the command prompt fails, erroring with file errors asking me to check that all files within the samples.zip file have been extracted.
I have checked and all have been, I've also checked permissions for the folders.
I've even added manually the folders he .bat is looking for but still no success. I've attached a screenshot.
Has anyone seen this before ?
Cheers
Ajay

Re: Error installing samples in IBM Cognos Express 10.1
I would check the bat code in this restore file to see what exactly it is doing.

[SOLVED] Error installing samples in IBM Cognos Express 10.1
Sorry for the delay in getting back to the forum on the this.
The issues I found was related to the directory in which the installation of IBM Cognos Express is located.
In my case a secondary directory was created as my first attempt at an install failed, thus dropping the "IBM Cognos Express" folder one level further down in the "Program Files" path. The "restoreIDSsamples.bat" was looking for a folder path a little higher up. I moved the file, executed it and then pointed the config to look at the new location.
Hey presto.
Point to Note, if for some reason the installation fails, before starting a new one, make sure all file paths pertaining to an installation attempt are removed.
Cheers
