Free TM1 tool "Flow Model Packager" beta release

Post by Harvey »

Flow OLAP Solutions has released the first beta version of our Flow Model Packager.

It is now available for installation from our website, and contains the automated compare and deploy functionality which was disabled in previous releases.

If you have already installed the product, it should automatically update next time you start it up. If you get errors during the automatic update, uninstall the product and re-install from scratch.

The tool is free to use, but you have to become a Flow Partner to get a full license.

I hope you find the tool useful, and feel free to post your thoughts, suggestions and requests.

Hi ioscat, glad to hear you're trying out the Flow Model Packager!

When you first try to create a Model Snapshot, the program will prompt you for the TM1 API folder.

You need to point the application to the TM1 API dlls. This is typically

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\bin64
on a 64-bit machine and

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1\bin
on a 32-bit machine, but has changed over the years, so will depend on what version of TM1 you are running.

If you've done that correctly, all you need to do is provide the correct admin host for the TM1 server you are trying to access. This will be exactly the same value as the one on the options screen in TM1 Server Manager (Perspectives or Architect).

If you continue to have issues, email us at team@flowolap.com and we can help you get it running correctly.

Shouldn't I use forum to contact you?
OS = "Windows Server 2003 R2"
server host = pc name = "cognosdemo"
tm1 server name = "RTRN_FinMod"
TM1 API folder= "C:\cognos\tm1\bin"

Using the forum is fine if it's a general question, as it appears this one is.

That dialog appears because you have not licensed the application. The application is free of charge, but we only offer it to users who have registered to be a Flow Partner. Registering is easy, and carries no obligation.

The process is as follows:

1) Register as a Flow Partner on our website
2) We will send you a partner kit containing instructions on how to obtain a license file for the software. You can do this over the internet.
3) Import the license file into the program, as per instructions in the partner kit. This will unlock all the functionality.

I hope that provides some clarification.

Thanks again for trying out the Flow Model Packager, and I hope you find the application useful. Please note that the application is still in it's beta phase, so if you find any bugs or issues, please let me know.
