Hi,
I would like to install Cognos TM1 v10.1.1 and Cognos Architect on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit. Reading installation documentation there is info I need to install:
- Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package
- Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
I installed 64-bit software, but TM1 Architect does not start up. So I also installed 32-bit .NET and Architect starts up. Now I am wondering which type of software do I need to install 32-bit or 64-bit of above listed prerequisites?
Thanks

Re: Prerequisite Components to install for Cognos TM1 v10.1.
As of 10.1 and 10.1.1 in the new installer it is no longer necessary to install both the 64 bit server and 32 bit client on a 64 bit server as the 64 bit install now includes the client components. However you do need to remember that the thick clients (Architect and Perspectives) are 32 bit only so the .Net dependencies are for 32 bit .Net.

Re: Prerequisite Components to install for Cognos TM1 v10.1.
In TM1 Installation Guide and Configuration Guide in section Software requirements subsection Prerequisite software it is written (see attachment). There is no statement if installing 32-bit software or 64-bit.
Because my intention is to install Architect I installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 32-bit. But when I run Cognos TM1 64-bit install I get the following two info messages:
I click on OK button (the only option) and then the following info message appears:
I don't know what this installer actually checks (it looks it checks for .NET 64-bit installation which is just not required by my install), so it looks to me like a little mess. How does installer know the missing prerequisite if it does not know what component I am going to install? Why doesn't it report which .NET is missing 32-bit or 64-bit?
Just out of curiosity I tried to install Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framerowk 3.5 and installer reports that .NET framework is not installed. So it looks like Chart Controls requires 64-bit .NET Framework. So if I understand correctly if installing TM1 Web then .NET framework 64-bit is required to be able to install .NET Chart Controls? Is it?
