Set the Local Server Data Directory in the Options ?

Post by macsir »

If we set the Local Server Data Directory in the Options dialog box to the worksheet directory and turn off the option Connect to Local Server on Startup, does TM1 only look at rule source file (.XRU) and dim source file (.XDI) for calculation regardless that RUX or DIM files are in whatever directories?
In TM1,the answer is always yes though sometimes with a but....

I also figured that out. TM1 always uses complied files which are RUX or DIM files for calculations. If you set data directories in options, TM1 would use these folders to update your souce files which are XRU or XDI files. Rule or Dim editor would only update complied files. That's why you need to use one entry to update your rules or dimensions, either by worksheet or by editor. If you use editor, please do save your changes in source files when it prompts. Otherwise, you would be out of sync, which is very dangerous.
