TM1 application and Excel downloading in it

I create TM1 application in Architect and put in it Excer file with some TM1 objects.

When in Architect in Application I launch Excel file (double click) and Excel with TM1 objects launch. Excel starts but it didn't connect automatically to tm1server. I have to connect to TM1 server manually on Tm1 tab.

I want to do Excel connects to TM1 Web automatically when I run it from Architect. Is it possible?

I'm not entirely sure I follow the question, so this is a best guess answer. Please clarify your question if it doesn't help...

- You cannot open Excel files from Architect because Architect is stand alone. Perspectives (or Client, depending on your licence) is the tool that is an add-in for Excel. You can open Excel files from the Applications folder in Perspectives/Client, but not Architect.
- If you are (somehow) able to open Excel files from Architect then they will no longer be linked to Architect, because Architect and Excel do not talk to each other. Architect is only really meant for Servers where Excel is not installed. If you have Excel then you should always be using Perspectives.
- TM1 Web is also a separate tool. To view pages in Tm1 Web you must log in to TM1 Web. Logging into to Perspectives or Architect will not log you into TM1 Web.

Maybe because Applix/Cognos/IBM programmed the application this way? I certainly don't know and unless we have some old Applix engineers trolling this forum I don't believe anyone else knows either. As Martin explained it to you, Architect and Perspectives are not the same. Yes, they look alike but one runs as an add-in to Excel and the other is a stand-alone client app. When you are in Perspectives. and you double click on on Excel sheet in the Applications folder, your PC recognizes it as an Excel sheet (through the file associations) and your PC opens the sheet inside the same Excel session as Perspectives and thus it inherits your logged in state and can immediately communicate with the TM1 server. When you double click on an Excel sheet from inside Architect, your PC still recognizes it as an Excel sheet, but since it wasn't launched from inside Excel, your PC thinks a new Excel session is needed and it then launches Excel. If you have Perspectives set to auto-load then the
add-in loads and then the sheet is opened. Since it wasn't launched from inside an existing Excel session there is no logged in state to inherit and thus it cannot communicate with the TM1 server until you log in. It's pretty simple.

Architect is only really meant for Servers where Excel is not installed. If you have Excel then you should always be using Perspectives.

Architect is designed to work in an environment where Excel is not present. So even if it is present it assumes that it is not. I.e. it doesn't interact directly.
