CE Backup and Restore - An error has occured

Just wondering if anyone has see this before.

In Cognos Express Manager Administration - Backup and Restore
I'm getting the error
an error has occurred null

I deleted some old backup folders by explorer rather than via the interface but I have rebooted the server

so the answer is that if you delete backups you must delete all backups (via windows explorer), or just use the delete interface.
