Is there a question you wish to ask or are you just sharing?

QML try to be at least little more helpful please.

As for the question (or lack of) I would suggest you look at contributor. It is covered on both the IBM site and in the documentation that comes wit the TM1 installation.

Jim, no disrespect to the OP, you or anyone else intended.

<lecturing mode on>
However, the OP has a long history of mostly poorly phrased questions (or lack thereof). So far all delicate hints that a little more time and effort spent when composing posts would help others help him seem to have been ignored. It seems obvious to me that asking the right question greatly improves the chance of someone actually making the effort to help out. It also lets others benefit from the thread and, quite frankly, shows the level of respect the OP has for other forum members. And last, but not least, being helpful is much easier when you know what sort of help is expected. But maybe it's just me. ;)

I agree with you. There is no question there. I also agree with your other points, but here's the thing there's a way of making your point. While your not wrong, if somebody new to the forum comes on and looks at the post they may be put off asking questions.

But this is exactly what I was trying to encourage the OP to do - to ask a question. :D

Hi Jim - I have to say I agree with qml at least 95%. Let's not forget that the OP has a long and inglorious history of posting dubious often infathomable questions with no regards for the request for assistance guidelines and several people in the past have already pointed this out to said OP.

What exactly would you suggest as a better response? I can't see that a reminder of the posting guidelines would have been any more friendly or more encouraging for other potential posters or people unfamiliar with this forum. I think most people would be asking the same question in their own heads, "what is the actual question here?" so I can't see that repeating the same would be off putting. I also don't think sugar coating adds any value.

(On a side note though I do think the subsequent discussion does demonstrate that the forum has a good community of helpful minded people willing to assist, ... provided sufficient information is given that is.)

Hi,
Can I suggest that you read the manuals that talk about writing string rules? Then search the forum for help on string rules.

It is clear from what you have written that you have made little attempt to figure this out for yourself.

Can I ask that you spend a little time trying to figure this out for yourself? You have a long history of requesting help while demonstrating little effort at helping yourself. Only by attempting to figure this out for your self will your skills advance.

Thanks,
