Re: TM1 Contributor Slice to Excel
The "Operation Failed" message is just that, a message that an operation failed. Except that it does not deliver any information at all. Thus it is useless when it comes to investigate and to resolve the issue.
In addition to the "Operation Failed" message, did you get any additional information ?
Did you check the TM1 server message logfile tm1server.log, the TM1 Web logfile tm1web.log and the Excel Report Server logfile TM1ExcelService.log for warnings and error messages whose timestamp match the time the operation in TM1 Web was triggered and failed ?
Note:
By default the messages in the TM1 logfiles are using the GMT time. Thus take into account the difference between your local time and the GMT time.
If there are no matching warnings and error messages in the TM1 logfiles, you have to reconfigure the TM1 Web logfile tm1web.log and the Excel Report Server logfile TM1ExcelService.log for Debug Level Logging before you test again.
On how to configure the TM1 Web logfile tm1web.log for Debug Level Logging see the manual TM1 9.5.2 Web User Guide, Chapter 7: "Administering IBM Cognos TM1 Web", Paragraph: "Using IBM Cognos TM1 Web Logging", Sub-Paragraph: "IBM Cognos TM1 Web Log", page 120 to 122, or check the corresponding IBM website ->

The IBM Cognos TM1 Web log records messages for IBM Cognos TM1 Web activity and errors. The log file is an ASCII text file that you can open in any text editor, such as Microsoft Windows Notepad.

Excel Services Log
The TM1 Excel Services log records messages for the TM1 Excel Service - an application that runs in the background to handle IBM Cognos TM1 Web requests for converting Excel files into XML format. The TM1 Excel Services log file is an ASCII text file that you can open in any text editor, such as Microsoft Windows Notepad.
Reconfigure the TM1 Web logfile tm1web.log and the Excel Report Server logfile TM1ExcelService.log for Debug Level Logging as outlined in the TM1 Documentation.
Afterwards recycle (stop&restart) TM1 Web (by recycling the Windows Service "IIS Admin" which will force recycling the Windows Service "WWW Publish Service" driving TM1 Web) and the Excel Report Server TM1ExcelService.exe (by recycling the Windows Service "TM1ExcelService.exe").
Then test again and check for warnings and error messages in the logfiles related to the failed operation.

Thanks works now, however doesnt works on the server where tm1 is installed, it pops up some page and then nothing happens, I checked from the other machine and it works fine. I think this could be something to do with IE setting i will check that out.
Thanks a lot sir.
