Hello all,
Is it actually a requirement to install excel 2003/2007 on the TM1 Server even if we wont use TM1 Client on the server?
Will TM1 work if we only run TM1 as a service in the server and Excel will be installed in the client?
Thanks,
Christian

It depends on whether you'll be running TM1 Web or not. If you will then you do need to have Excel on the server side somewhere (or at least, wherever you're running web) because it's used to render the websheets. If you aren't, there's no technical need to that I can think of off the top of my head but we always have; it's just convenient to be able to launch it in one place when proxied on to the server to check out what's happening.christianlebe wrote:

Re: Excel 2007 and TM1 Server
Thanks Kirk,
That makes perfect sense. Excel Libraries are being used to render TM1 Web.
Now, we're going to have Cognos 10 and TM1 Enviroment installed in a three tier installation, TM1 on one application server, Cognos 10 on one application server and we have Web Gateway on its own.
What would be the best practice - should Excel be installed on the web gateway? or should it be installed on TM1 application server, if I install it on application server that means I would need to run IIS (or webserver) in the TM1 Application server as well, I thought it wouldnt be good as it means that we'll have two Webservers running (one in actual webgateway, another one in the TM1 server).
Thanks,
Christian
