Integrating Contributor with Cognos 8 BI

Post by anoops81 »

Hi ,

When we are trying to save the security rights which we have defined in contributor, we are getting the error message “ Error occurred while creating Cognos 8 Object: cmInavlidSearchPath”

We are using TM1 9.5.2 , Cognos 8.4.1 integrated security mode =5. Please find the error message below.

We got a warning when intializing the contributor for the first time. The message was "Gate way URI could not be reached. Do you want to use this value?" (Screenshot below)

Any suggestions are most welcome .

Thanks and Regards

I got this recently. It was the "}TM1_DefaultDisplayValue" attribute in the }Groups dimension. They have to be prefixed with where they come from. I was running Express so it had to be Cognos\{Object}. Not sure if it'll be the same with enterprise software, but I should imagine that's a good place to start.

You might find, as I did, that one of them works and has the prefix already there. Just copy that one.

Hi Martin ,

Thank you so much... It worked !!!!!!!!!

I was stuck with this error for the last 2 days. The error log also didnt show any error message for this.

I have some more queries , hope you will have the answer for these too :) .

1)To which group we should map the end user , so that he will be able to see the applications which are deployed in contributor.

Is it the group cognos/everyone ? I checked the access of the user and he had access to the view which was used in contributor application. But was not able to see the application deployed in contributor. It was blank.

2) Do we need to prefix the username from Cognos 8 BI also with where they come from ? (like AD-CRE\Anoop) . Currently no prefix is added and I am getting disconnect warning in architect telling that "CAM0-Passport error"

Thanks & Regards

1) In my experience with Express there is no special setup required. If a user can log on to Express in any way then they can log in to Contributor. However they may be confronted with an empty screen if they do not have access to any of the items in the Workflow list

2) Dunno. I haven't had a lot of success with active directory or single sign on in Express.

Hi Guys,

Currently facing issues in Performance Modeler. Error when saving rights. I think the suspect is the Cognos\{Group}.
I added the groups from Cognos directory, but when showed in my Architect, there's no Cognos\.

This is my suspicion. I'm wondering why they were added in my user groups without that prefix.
