Periods in BI

Post by ParisHilton »

Happy New Year all ! xxx

I am certain this has been answered numerous times, but I don't know where to find it.

If I have a single time dimension with dates in it , but I want BI authors to be able to select either dates, week numbers or month number how would I best do this?

Ideally the week number and month number would be an attribute, but I can only pull through one attribute per FM package ( I suppose I could have multiple FM packages but this would be uglier than Piers Morgan).

Should I have a date dimension, a month dimension and a week dimension with lots of overlap, intuitively this feels far from efficient?

Any better suggestions?
