Re: cfg file.
Hi Viswaraju,
Could you please re-check in the below location C:\Program Files\Cognos\TM1\Custom\TM1Data
And see how many TM1 data folders you have-
1)PData
2)PlanSamp
3)Rules_Guide_Data
4)SData
5)TI_Data
you should have above TM1 data folders.
Also check in TM1 perspective sever explorer -file->options->Local server(Data directory) and browse data directory to your local server.
Regards,
Ravi

Re: cfg file.
It also depends on the operating system that he used to install it on. If it was Vista or Windows 7, Windows won't allow data files to be stored in the same path as the program files. This can result in the data files being in the users roaming profile folders without the user being aware of it. I did raise this as an issue with IBM some time ago (specifically, that they need to rectify the installation package so that by default it sends the data files to somewhere other than the C:\Program Files\ path), but I don't know whether they've fixed it in 9.5.1. The response that I got to the bug report indicated that they didn't quite "get" what the problem was.ravi wrote: Could you please re-check in the below location location C:\Program Files\Cognos\TM1\Custom\TM1Data

"Imperator" will do fine.viswaraju wrote:hi Boss Alan,

I can see what you've done now.viswaraju wrote:the operating system i am using is windows XP.
When you did the installation you selected the TM1 Perspectives option. This will install the pData sample.
pData is designed to be used only by someone who's running stand-alone Perspectives with a local server. (As opposed to one which is running as a service, even on the same machine.) Consequently there is no tm1s.cfg file in the pData directory, since local servers ignore that anyway.
To get sData or the Planning Sample (both of which do have configuration files since they're intended to be run as services, not as local servers), uninstall your existing TM1 installation (just to be safe; it may not strictly speaking be necessary to do that but I would anyway) and reinstall selecting the option TM1 - Install TM1 Server and Clients. At some point (assuming that you select a Custom install rather than a standard one) you'll need to specify the sample databases that you want to install. Read the installation instructions very carefully at this point, because the dialog is fairly fiddly.
Incidentally, the licence file tm1p8.lic has no bearing on the version; its purpose is to allow you to use the Perspectives version of the client, rather than the base Client which is designed for non-administrators. The licence is for Perspectives, not the servers. The "8" in the name doesn't make it version-specific.
