I'm trying to figure out the difference between TM1 Perspectives and TM1 client.
Is one considered to be a stand alone app and the other is an add-in to Excel?

They're both the same add-in (tm1p.xla plus associated files), but the functionality varies depending on whether a Perspectives licence file is present on your computer.cycleman83 wrote:I'm trying to figure out the difference between TM1 Perspectives and TM1 client.

Full Perspectives allows you to run a stand-alone session of TM1; one which doesn't need to have a server running on a box somewhere else on the network. However only the person who's running that session can access it. This is called a Local server.
If you have Client rather than full Perspectives you'll also notice the absence (or disabling) of a bunch of menu items, including the ones for creating new cubes or dimensions.
In short, Perspectives is for those who want to do their own "what if" modelling via a Local server, and for administrators.
"To them, equipment failure is terrifying. To me, it’s 'Tuesday.' "
