RDC Profile Corruption

Post by jorelb »

We have a dedicated X64 box with 32 gig of RAM for TM1 and we are on version 9.4 MR1 and using Excel 2007. Because the box only runs TM1 and has the memory and horse power, we let users RDC to the box to do TM1 work using Excel. Recently, it has been becoming frequent, users would not be able to launch the TM1p.xla file for reasons such as it cannot find a need file etc. As a result of some trouble shooting, we discovered that by deleting their RDC profile and starting all over, the problem gets fixed. It also happens only to users that are non-admin to the box and the same users do not experience the same problem when they use their laptops where they are admin. Any thoughts on what may be causing the RDC profile corruption?

Thank you

We thought we had the solution by deleting the RDC profile however the problem still persisted. One thing was apparent, folks who were windows admin did not have the issue. To test, I removed myself from the admin group and made myself a regular user –and presto, I started experiencing the problem. I verified with IT to check if there were any security changes made to the box or network and they said no. To eliminate TM1 as the source of the issue, I launched architect from the box and it worked – only conclusion is that there must be a problem with Excel in the physical box. We immediately repaired Excel and problem fixed – not a TM1 issue.
