Am I being thick? How can the Google Bot be a registered user?

My guess is that phpBB, where this software has been downloaded from, knows how to recognise GoogleBot and treats it as a registered user. I've also seen Yahoo and a few other bots as registered users.

Aha!

I run a couple of SMF forums and the bots always show up as guests.

PHPBB has come a long way in a couple of years.
