Icons under Planning Analytics ribbon (excel-addin) is grayed out

Post by dharav9 »

Hi, All

I found strange behavior on one of our user machine. Icons under Planning Analytics ribbon are grayed out.

Image

This user was able to use PAX till Monday.

We did following to debug:

1) She has already set up compatibility settings in Excel
2) we tried to uninstall and install PAX
3) we re-install Office 365
4) We uninstall one windows update which was done after Monday.

Does anyone have experience this and how could we resolve?

Thank You for your time and assistance!!

Looks like it’s not just grayed out (disabled) but outright missing. I’ve never seen this before and I’m in PAFE 5 days a week for over a year now. A couple of thoughts:

— In Excel it’s possible to customize the ribbon. Are the ribbon tab contents “checked” i.e. enabled when you go to edit the ribbon?

— Did you have the end user delete the OfficeConnection folder in their AppData folder? Usually this reverts everything PAFE related to an out of the box experience.
Take care.

I just got back to my computer. I can recreate what your screenshot shows.

My fix is as follows:

1. Right click on the blank space in the "IBM Planning Analytics" tab and click "Customize the Ribbon". The Excel Options window appears.
2. On the left side of the Excel Options window, "Choose commands from", select "Main Tabs". You'll see IBM Planning Analytics as the last item on the list.
3. Press the [+] expand the IBM Planning Analytics tab. You'll see all of the sections that are missing from the ribbon.
4. You can select each group one-by-one and then "Add >>" to the list on the right in the IBM Planning Analytics section.

This should fix the issue. Please LMK.
Take care.

I tried this. What is strange => When i add elements from left pane to right, it got added. I click ok. Now i went to Planning Analytics ribbon but it did not change anything. I open customize ribbon to make sure all elements on right side are still there under planning analytics. It wasn't there. it means it does not getting save in the right pane.

Please Advise.

Try the different display resolutions of your monitor.
We have had out of the ordinary display issues which were resolved by trying the different resolution options.
