RAM Usage much larger than Cubes

Post by Mark2007 »

Hi there,
I've a question regarding RAM-Usage. My Application is running Planning Analytics 2.0, Windows Server 2016

Task Manager shows it's RAM usage ~25 GB
}Stats by Server also shows total RAM of 25 GB, Garbage ~11 MB
}Stats by Cubes shows total RAM for all Cubes ~ 5GB
Dimensions size in Total is ~ 6 GB

So, Cube 5 GB + Dimensions 6 GB => where can I find the difference between 25 GB RAM in Total?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mark

Have you recently upgraded to PA? If so, it is probably due to MUNs. From memory the topic that I raised on this was called something like Planning Analytics using twice the memory. Do a search and you should find it. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it other than buy more RAM.

Regards

It can be found here, in fact. I've also added it to Miss Havisham's favourite thread, the FAQ one. When I have a moment I think I shall don a hazmat suit and go in and clean that thing out. I'm not sure that anyone cares overly much about 8.4 any longer. I don't want to dump the older entries but I think they need to be archived somewhere, with some fresh blood flushed into the thing.

Thanks, specially to Paul. It was the right hint and your tool to derive number of elements an number of Member Unique Names (MUN) was a great help!

I modified it a little bit:
a) it gave errrors when a dimension had no elements
b) it had problems with special signs (that should not be used, I know ) as ä, ü, ö

might be it helps someone else, too.
