Wondering if anyone might have any insights on what the resolution to my problem maybe.
We have some TIs that reach out to MSAS that have been working for many moons without issue
They recently all started failing both at runtime and on edit. When the TI opens it fails fast, with the message "Cannot connect to the ODBO datasource".
Environment has been restarted.
A fresh TI with the correct connection details entered from scratch also fails.
A connection from Excel using the same connection details on the same box works.
......
The only thing that has changed in the environment was on the day the failures started we moved from Office 2007 to Office 2016 on the server hardware. They started failing when Office 2016 was installed but before Office 2007 was removed.
Maybe this removed some component / pre-requiste that the TM1 engine relied on to make the connection.
TM1 Version PA 2.0.3 IF2
Any ideas....

Re: ODBO Connection to MSAS Failing
Small update.
It would appear that you have to have the same versioned SQL client on the TM1 DB as the SQL DB in order for ODBO to work.
My belief is that the movement from Office 2007 to 2016 has probably moved the ODBO drivers past the compatibility with the SQL version.
I'm trying to arrange for a SQL client to be installed but...well not sure how long that will take....
I can't find any info out about the location of "ODBO Drivers" or where to check this info, any ideas?

Re: ODBO Connection to MSAS Failing
It is probably worthwhile to reinstall the ODBC driver. See the link,

Re: ODBO Connection to MSAS Failing
Hi,
Just to close this one off.
The issue was indeed triggered by the replacement of Excel 2007 with 2016.
Installing a SQL client on the box (2014 in this case) meant that the ODBO connection started working again.
