Upgrade to Planning Analytics from TM1 10.1.1 Version

Post by krithika331 »

Hi,

Can anybody please share the upgrade issues for migrating from Tm1 10.1.1 to Planning Analytics 2.0.7 Version. Ours is Standard installation and not going for PAW or PAX. What are the risks and challenges for the Websheets? Apart from PAW, PAX, are there any additional features like performance/multi-threading etc..

Thanks for Advance.

I've just done an upgrade from 10.2.2 to PA 2.0.7 and had no issues. W were on 10.1.1 for a long time and the upgrade to 10.2.2 raised no issues. Keeping in mind not that much has changed on the server side you should be good. I would say that we've noticed huge increase in web sheet performance in TM1 and more consistency in format rendering in PA,

Hi Jim

We are in the stages of planning our upgrade from 10.1.0 (and one instance on an old 9.5.2), all over to PA 2.0.8

One of the areas we have struggled with was TM1Web, in that the JVM needed to be quite high, and sometimes didn't improve performance as expected when increased.

We're now splitting models (instances) across dedicated webservers and looking to allocate the full 56GB JVM RAM, under PA 2.0.8, to the individual instances.

First question......In terms of your comment about the performance of websheets in your old 10.x environment compared to the new, did you increase the RAM, or did you see the improvement with the same quantity of RAM ?

Second question......We have struggled with WAN issues so we are hoping that the move to PAx sorts this out. IBM have advised us that storage on the PAW (Docker) server is more important than RAM on it. Have you found this to be the case ? We were under the impression, that just like the Application/Data Server, we would max out the RAM on the Docker, but were surprised with IBM's comment. Interested to know your findings.

Cheers and thanks in advance
Ajay

No we haven't increased RAM and also we haven't installed installed PAW or any of its resource sapping stuff. We have server & web installed on the same test box for now, so that may explain the performance up tick,
