Re: 9.1 SP3 Instability Issue

Hi Steve, Apologies if I was a little unclear. I was talking about MaximumViewSize=100. The difference is ours was set 50. This was inherited from when we were on a windows machine. We have now set it to 512 and hope to see more stability. This is there to protect the server and Cognos have admitted...

Re: 9.1 SP3 Instability Issue

Cognos have got back to me. They think it is related to users passing the allowed memory usage limit for data views. They have asked me to put the level up while they look in to why this is causing a crash,

Jim.

Re: TM1 Preston

I get what you mean Steve. When I left Aerospace I was given the opportunity to stay via a counter offer. This offer was still way below what I was being offered. I could have lived with that to be honest, but the company making the offer in London were Applix and I couldn't see a better place to be...

Re: About conditional feeders...

The cube in question was called TAPS. It was 9GB in size. It still has 7 dimensions: Measure - 276 Version - 44 Brand - 251 Handling - 11 Division - 33 Outlet - 7578 Time - 2563 This cube was central hub for everything else and had feeders for 3 other cubes (These were the variable feeders before I ...

Re: About conditional feeders...

Another thing to consider is that conditional feeders will increaes your model startup time. We have quite a big cube set and only one cube contained conditional feeders. Before I removed them the server instance took 6.5 hours to start up. Now I have removed them it is down to 2.5 hours. Your model...

Re: TM1 Preston

Hi Garry, You are right sort of. Most of the best people out there (There aren't that many) are highly paid due to the lack of a resource pool. I also understand your frustration. The simple fact is that if people want to change job they are going to do it for one of two reasons: 1) They are looking...

Re: 9.1 SP3 Instability Issue

Hi Guys, I've been unwell so sorry for the delay. To answer your questions: 1) I have removed everything that I can and memory usage has gone down from 34GB to 28GB. Also I have reduced the startup time from 6 hours to 2.5. We have 64GB available so lack of memory aint the issue. To get teh startup ...

Re: Server 9.1 SP3 U1 - Memory Exception

Does your crash create a memory core dump in the data directory? Have you raised this issue with Cognos support? If not could you raise the issue? If you have raised it, could you let Keith Faulkner at Cognos UK know the details. If you haven't raised the issue but you have core dump could you PM me...

Re: Server 9.1 SP3 U1 - Memory Exception

The problems we have had have caused a memory dump to the hard drive. We are working on getting what we need out of the dump and we are passing this on to Cognos Support. I suggest you try something similar. Even refernce our problem if you like. The more customers that experience the same issue, th...

Did you really need to post this twice and shouldn't it be on the OLAP Jobs section of the forum?

Re: Using 9.1

We have narrowed our problems down to browsing larger cubes within 9.1 SP3 (Not sure which update). The 2 cubes in question are 8GB and 10GB in size. Whenever a user gets certain data from them they crash. (Not a rule or feeder by the way.)

It's very strange.

We are using it but we are having major issues (See other posts). We are now looking to get Cog... (what ever you call em these days) in to have a look at things. It has made the last 5 or 6 weeks interesting if nothing else,

Re: Server 9.1 SP3 U1 - Memory Exception

Have just added a post about 9.1 SP3 issues. I'm not sure we are experiencing the same erro but it does sound spookily similar. When our error occurs the server becomes unavailable, a core dump occurs but Unix still thinks the service is running. It's very bizzare. Here's the thing, we also have mem...

9.1 SP3 Instability Issue

Guys, We have recently upgraded both our server operating system and TM1 version. The server was upgraded from Solaris 8 to 10 and TM1 was upgraded from 8.4.5 to 9.1 SP3. Before the upgrade the server was solid as a rosk. We didn't have a crash in 18 months. Since the upgrade we have been getting th...

Re: DBS/DBSW

Hi Matt, The iF statement is the simplest way of controlling the send. If you combine it with a macro button it works well. As for DBSW. This sends once everything else has been calculated. Be careful when you use this combined DBR functions. Calculation order can be a killer. In one particular inst...

Re: TI Error Never Seen Before

Answering my own question. (How sad) I found that the issue was related to a rule in the target cube. It had circular reference within it. Once I removed it the process worked first time. It is however a bit strange (And not helpful) that no log file is produced. One for the notes me thinks. I will ...
