Re: TM1 toolbar in Excel 2007

When this happens (TM1 ribbon loses descriptions and displays only icons) it is due to an error within tm1p.xla or tm1pRibbonX.xlam. When this happens it is likely that the buttons will not function correctly anyway so the best option is to restart Excel. I have experienced this from time to time bu...

Re: TI Unlock

You can programatically lock/unlock a cube with TI by writing to }CubeProperties As I am guessing you have discovered you can programatically lock an element by writing to the }ElementProperties_Dimension cube but you cannot programatically UNLOCK the same element once that element is locked since t...

Re: How to design a model in TM1 9.5?

I haven't had a good play with 9.5 Contributor yet but I principle I see no reason why you should have to navigate only to leaf elements to submit a forecast. The manager of product A or B should be able to navigate to that node and use data spreading (TM1's analogue to break-back) to change numbers...

Re: Performing YTD and other relative time calculations in TM1

Hi Tutak, There are a few ways to do what you want to do. You can have 'YTD' be an N element in your month dimension and have a rule based approach that would look at a value in a system cube and then direct to the appropriate consolidation. Your rule might look something like ... ['YTD'] = N: DB('y...

Re: Counting # of elements by using attributes

If I understand correctly you have a string attribute 'Closed Date' in the Tickets dimension and you require a rule in your cube (which contains a date dimension) to check if the date matches the ticket's closed date and if so record a 1 against a count for tickets closed on that day .. Your rule sh...

Re: Feeder Frenzy

2 questions for you - How long is the "feeder chain"? - When you save the rule file do you get any "stack overflow" messages in the server log file? Both these questions get at the same issue, namely that there is a limit to how many cells can be fed from a single cell. TM1's &qu...

Re: TM1 9.4.1 FP2 & TM1 9.4.0

This isn't a bug. It is quite well publicised that 9.4.1 FP1 and FP2 will only install over the 9.4.1 (MR1) full release and IBM support should have told you as much.

Re: Rule Derived Element Security

I should have been more specific. If cell security cubes are being used with PrivilegeGenerationOptimization then only fed cells in security cubes will be processed. This can dramatically shorten server load time, but it does mean all values must be correctly fed (if rule populated).

Re: Rule Derived Element Security

Feedstrings is probably essential to get right if you ever have any decent sized cube with cell security. But any 2D security cube is going to be dense by definition so there is nothing to gain from Skipcheck or Feedstrings. Feedstrings is often a little flaky and doesn't quite work as it should (in...

Re: Creating subset and views in TM1 Java API

TM1 already provides its own on board ETL and scripting tool. Why would you not use Turbo Integrator to create the subsets and views (and set security for that matter)?

It would make your life a whole lot simpler!

Re: tm1choreexecute & 9.4

I have used TM1ProcessExecute.exe extensively with 9.4.1 to trigger processes externally when a confirmation file arrives in the data source directory. There haven't been any stability issues as far as I'm aware. Haven't used the ChoreExecute exe though.

Re: Named Licenses - number of connects?

Yes this shouldn't be a problem. You can't exceed the number of named users purchased in total but any individual named user could have as many concurrent open sessions via whatever interface(s) took their fancy. A named user could have sessions to the TM1 server open via Excel, TM1 web, EV, Cockpit...

Re: Use same dimension in multiple axes

Not only is is it not possible, I can't see any earthly benefit in doing that. Because... ... you can create a dimension which is exactly the same in TM1. Days are the N level which consolidate to weeks at level 1, to months at level 2 or whatever. This of course brings us back to the auld discussi...

Re: Hyperthreading...

John, I'm baffled as to why you would expect any other result. The hardware hyperthreading just turns your 8 CPU box into a 16 CPU box. To use any more than one of these CPUs during server load you would need to set MaximumCubeLoadThreads to a value greater than 1. Your observations are not disappoi...

Re: Getting DISTINCT Count using Rules

Another viable option would be to create a separate cube without any time dimensions and calculate the active customers in that cube. This might make the rules simpler for you. If you then want to drill back to your main cube and see when and how many transactions there are per customer that would b...
