Re: Is it possible to burst and email TM1 report using Cognos BI 10.2.2?
jasnayvarughese Coming slightly late to this post but I thought I would add a couple of non-technical comments. We frequently come across customers and prospects who use (or are used to) Cognos BI, sometimes in conjunction with Cognos Planning. This can lead to a mindset, particularly in IT, where T...

Re: One For The Marketing 'Droids (Changes To OneDrive)
Di you hear of the Hoover free flights fiasco from 1990's? Brought down the company! The Hoover free flights promotion was a marketing promotion begun in 1992. ...it promised free airline tickets to customers who purchased more than £100 worth of its products. However, Hoover had not anticipated tha...

Re: Authentication/security Tm1 applications W/O BI
This is probably going off topic a bit but to continue the digression about TM1 users and BI license rights (and I really hate the IBM licensing docs that say what roles can't do rather than what they can !) Under Enterprise TM1 licensing: - TM1 Modelers can use Framework Manager, Report Studio, Wor...

Migrating Perspectives Reports to CAFÉ - experience?
We are talking to a customer who is interested in migrating their onpremise TM1 to TM1 SaaS. (btw nothing to do with TM1 just their strategy is to close existing outsourced data centre and move everything to cloud!) Under the SaaS model, the majority of users will access TM1 using either CAFÉ or TM1...

As well as things you mentioned other things that would be nice to see include
- named hierarchies
- more granular calculation caching
Both of which were on Applix wish list for years. Guess we just have to wait and see if IBM will deliver
Hope to see you in Vision

Re: Cognos TM1 and Bugs
I've had a couple of real defects according to traditional software development, yet rejected by their development or support managers as "product behavior". To be fair, I don't think that approach is unique to IBM. Having dealt with various software vendors over the years I have come acr...

Re: Is Cognos TM1 getting better?
In your opinion, are the theoretical billions of dollars being poured into Cognos TM1 making it better? Agree with Alan about short memories. In the early days when I first started getting involved with TM1 managing projects ( late 90's, early 2000's) the product seemed very buggy with occasional i...

Re: Prism?
Given IBM's emphasis on cloud I suspect idea behind Prism is to have a unified front-end that will work on both cloud and on-premise. Will be interesting to see where it will be developed ( Littleton or York?) and which approach they will take a) the Performance Modeler 'lets make is as similar as p...

Re: TM1 Server RAM
Mmmm.... A few things you mention make me think. we have P&L by product, P&L by Customer and Costs cubes in which forecast data are input and calculated on a monthly basis. How many elements in the product and customer dimension? If you are getting up into the 10's of thousands you will need...

Re: Cognos Planning 8.2 to 8.4 Migration
Just spotted this. Why migrate to a superseded version that (I think) is no longer supported)?
In fact, why invest time and money migrating to a newer version of a product that has been completely superseded by TM1?

Re: TM1 Server RAM
Camembert As Declan says, it depends on the model, but 400 Gb for a 200 user planning and budgeting model does seem very high compared to most of our clients. Our largest models are around that size but these are extremely high volume insurance modelling with actuarial calculations going forward up ...

If it is a one-off or once a year and you are just doing it for 100 elements in a single dimension why not use DBSA in a sporeadsheet ? Very easy to do string manipulation in Excel formulae

Re: Diff between Cognos Analytics server and TM1 Server
even at IBM we can't get clarification. That does not surprise me at all. There are very few IBM ers who know about ( and evern fewer who understand) the historic licensing of TM1 and how it has changed. When the records were transferred via Cognos to IBM I recall many of our customers being told t...

Re: TM1 training - IBM Cognos TM1: Design and Develop Models
From the official IBM courses you could try "IBM Cognos TM1: Design and Develop Models (V9.5)". You may have problems finding a physical course being run though I think there is also the on-line version. Alternatively, find a local partner who has their own training material. If, like us, ...

Hi all,In the meantime i've learned though, why the reports i've created took sooooo long to refresh/recalculate.
