Re: Planning Analytics Local 2.0.1 Web Performance
We have this issue open with IBM. I will post out anything that comes from it, but yes we have seen a significant difference in initial build time for templates in PA vs both .Net and Java Webs.

Voted and ask a couple extra people to vote for it. This is something we have talked about with product management for a while but never gained any traction.

Hierarchy Management Tools
I threw this in general since it is not specifically TM1 related. What tools are people using to manage hierarchies. We have outgrown the ability to effectively manage hierarchies in Excel and text files but the only tools I can really see out there jump strait to the MDM sphere which is overkill fo...

Re: Having a rubbish TI editor is a good thing.
Perhaps I'm going through the 'trough of disillusionment' in my own TM1 hype cycle, but I'm starting to think that the tech systems world is changing, and TM1 under IBM's stewardship is getting left behind. Tools like Tableau have essentially killed the original concept of BI, and things like Alter...

Come on Stephen - no one reads emails anymore; I am waiting for the 24th/25th November being TM1forum's highest post count day in history! Funny since this similar thing happened to Applix a ways back, except it caught them by surprise. That incident is how I found the old Applix forum to begin with.

Re: How do YOU keep track of changes?
I also work for a company who have a tool for migration between servers which I won't name here but I'm sure it refered to enough elsewhere and I used to be a fan of the changes only via TI approach before I had a tool at my disposal to manage migration inclusive of diff tests & promoting incre...

Re: How do YOU keep track of changes?
My first tip would be to move to a code-driven paradigm. Make changes only to code (TI and rules plus whatever else you're using - Java, shell scripting etc) and never directly to objects. Cubes, dimensions, views, subsets etc should only be created/manipulated by said code, never by hand, and shou...

Re: 10.2.2 FP3 - auto SKIPCHECK
Btw, if you double click a cube in PM, you can select "No" in "Require feeding of rule derived cells" option. But PM will still add "FEEDSRTINGS" to all the rules. You should be able to comment out the feedstrings after it is created the first time and PM will respect ...

Re: 83265,999,616 CAFE Not Returning All Rows Without Warning
I know this is an old thread but since it has gotten some chatter I will post up what I was told by support. The issue as we saw it was a combination of the row limit and zero suppression within Cafe. Essentially Cafe does not utilize the TM1 server for zero suppression, it does it on the client sid...

Re: Locking out new logins during TI Processes
That is what I was wondering, but I did not want to spend time on it if it was leading down a blind alley. Is this something you've used yourself? RunTI is a tool we utilize all the time. It is a great way to break up large process and we have used it extensively to take advantage of parallel proce...

Re: Locking out new logins during TI Processes
I would investigate using a batch script to replace your control process and using RunTI to call your sub processes. This should release the locks caused by the metadata updates between process calls. This method would also allow you to pass in parameters while achieving the same results as the mult...

Re: TM1 + SPSS
We have had a couple projects attempt to integrate with SPSS with varying results. The problems we have found are 1) The entire integration is based around text files. This just does not scale along with other issues... While I've never used SPSS, I thought IBM introduced direct support for connect...

Re: TM1 + SPSS
Interesting. Where's the bottleneck with text files? TI reads flat files very fast indeed. What about using the new(ish) ExecuteJava(n/s) feature in 10.2+? Or (probably not so relevant) the REST/ODATA API? Mind you, it would be preferable if the owner of the products built and supported the connect...

Re: Best practice for versioning
For a while now I have been using the following approach and it works well: - Change your development to always be code-driven (it sounds like a tautology, I know). Basically the only objects you want to version and promote between environments are the TI processes plus any other 'code' you might h...

Re: Monthly Poll 201510 - Do you plan to use CAFE as a replacement or supplement for Client and Why?
Consequently I'm the (first? only? time will tell) voter who nominated Client, Web and CAFE. The only reason I did not select this option more relates to our org structure and inability to get IT to do things. I am hoping to ditch the clients ASAP purely for the WAN performance reasons and the hoop...

Re: Your Experience with TM1 10.2.2 and IBM's Support
On the other hand, I did not know you can run TM1 server in one version but TM1Web in another version. That works?? I'm not aware of an official statement, but generally speaking new versions of the TM1 server are backward compatibly with older versions of the clients (TM1Web, Perspectives, etc...)...

Re: Your Experience with TM1 10.2.2 and IBM's Support
1. Why is 10.2.2 remains this buggy? I understand that the move from IIS to Apache Tomcat is huge, but we are on FP4 now. To make it worse, FP4 introduces new bugs bad enough that I cannot install it. (To be fair, almost all the problems I have encountered are on the TM1Web side.) I think your bigg...
