Re: How has the locking model changed?

The locking model has changed where readers always bypass writers, and no way to change this except to design/redesign the model keeping this mind.

Correct me if I am wrong...

Re: How has the locking model changed?

I am with you on that one David. However, mykill could you be referring to this CalculationThresholdForStorage parameter. Straight from the documentation is what I have posted below. Could someone shed some light on this parameter as to what it really means? I think the default parameter of 50 is hi...

Re: How has the locking model changed?

Granted, I could do a bit more to improve rules and feeders. Also, trimming down a few dimensions. But, lets just say I have reached a fairly acceptable state when it comes to the above mentioned and the model is not used in a standard approval hierarchy method... That would lead me back to my initi...

How has the locking model changed?

Hi All, I am running 941 FP3 on win server 2003 x64. Horrible locking issues, which makes me ask the question... is this IBM's solution to the new locking model that would require a redesign of the model or is it a bad default behavior that can be changed through internal configuration parameters? S...

Optimizing rule calcs with tm1s.cfg parameters?

Hi All, Need some advice/info before considering to use 'AllRuleCalcStargateOptimization' and 'ViewConsolidationOptimizationMethod ' . Does anybody have more info on these two setting other than what's in the help files?. Also, AllRuleCalcStargateOptimization - Is there a significant performance inc...

what is tm1rawstore?

Hi All,

Couldn't get any information on the file tm1rawstore(with a timestamp) in the data folder.

Wondering what purpose does this file server, and when does it come into play when the model is running?

Re: Understanding ViewExtract TI commands

Hi, Sorry about that. Yes, I was a bit confused about how the ViewExtract TI command works. By saying snapshot, I was referring to my snapshot process which copied values from one version to another. I was trying to find a way to speed it up. I had used the command ViewExtractSkipRuleSet(cube,viewna...

What version of tm1 are you running? And, have you applied any of the hot fixes?

Re: Understanding ViewExtract TI commands

Thanks for that guys. The reason I asked about ViewExtracts is to find a way to speed up snapshots. As of now, all I have is a ViewExtractSkipRuleValueSet=0. I was thinking of a way to speed it up assuming the above view extract command would include zeros, and hence slow things down. So I thought o...

Re: Does cognos express server only work on 64bit?

I got a production version.

The install just won't go forward after detecting it's a 32bit machine.

Do I have the wrong version or am I missing something?

Understanding ViewExtract TI commands

Hi All, Need a bit of clarification on the 'ViewExtract' TI commands. ie. VIEWEXTRACTSKIPCALCSSET=>if set to true, the extract would skip consolidated cells but include zeros, entered numbers and rule calculated cells at the N level? VIEWEXTRACTSKIPRULEVALUESSET=>if set to true, the extract would sk...

Is ReadersBypassWriters a valid setting in tm1s.cfg?

Hi All,

Wondering if ReadersBypassWriters=T/F is a valid setting in tm1 9.4 fp2?

Apparently, it was one in tm1 8.x release?

Nothing found in existing documentation.

Also, what does the setting offer?

Any clues?

Thanks!

MergeFeederCell()?

Greetings All,

On going through my tm1server.log file, I found this...

872 INFO 2009-06-02 02:00:01.562 TM1.Cube MergeFeederCell() - unknown combination in cube "Sales Entry" type = 3, curr_cell_type = 3

What does it really mean?

Any help is appreciated!

event viewer shows chinese characters

Hi All,

Just upgraded the windows 2003 server to tm1 9.4 fp2.

On starting the tm1 server as a service, the event view showed an error as below...

Has anyone experienced the same?

Any suggestions?

Yup,

Documentation had it.

Caught me by surprise, as I thought I could use me existing interface on 9.4 as is.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Rule tracer used to open in seperate windows?

Hi All, Recently made a shift to 9.4, and I may be mistaken but I remember the rule tracer used to open in separate windows every time you right-clicked a cell and chose 'trace rule' in 9.1. However, now in 9.4 on doing the same you have every new instance of the rule tracer open in the same window....

Subset editor opens without having EPICK code

Hi All! Hope all are well! Had something really strange happen... On double clicking a cell in excel which had a =SUBNM(...) formula, it opened up the subset editor without me having any double click vba code sitting at the back as an event. This occurs on 9.4MR1 with FP1. But, does not on 9.1. Has ...
