Re: Problem with Feeder

Isn't this one a simple case of needing to include a FEEDSTRINGS command in the source cube?

Re: RemoteApps and TM1

If anyone has experience of both, it would be very interesting to hear any comments regarding comparison with Citrix (it sounds v similar)

Re: Budgeting Vs Reporting

Yes - that makes sense, and in my experience is always a key design consideration - ie at what level of detail do you want to budget at? Option 1 - a simple approach is to include a 'Version' (or similar) dimension in what you currently call your 'actuals' cube, to differentiate between 'actual', 'b...

Re: Budgeting Vs Reporting

Another idea would be to create a budget cube that has an aggregated version of your Cost dimension - eg where Cost X is an 'n' level element.

Whether that's a more workable solution than my other suggestion will largely depend on your existing model / needs

Re: Budgeting Vs Reporting

You can't add data to consolidated cells in TM1 I'm afraid;

You will either need to nominate an existing child of Cost X for budget entry - eg Cost X1.
Or, create a child of Cost X (and Cost Y, Z etc), purely for budget entry purposes - eg Cost XB.

Hope that helps

Re: Capex budgeting in TM1

I think there are only really a couple of ways to appraoch this; 1 - have a dimension called capex project that contains a finite list of elements (eg Project 1, Project 2, Project 3 etc etc) - You could then (eg) use attributes of the elements to describe their different or actual uses once the for...

Citrix/Terminal Services vs Replication

Hi AmbPin - Replication between remote locations will inevitably be slower than within the same office due to the distance travelled, bandwidth etc etc. Some of the things I've found are noted as follows, which may or may not be of use to you in troubleshooting / tweaking your replication set-up - n...

Re: Excel + DBRW() bug

Had a reply from IBM on this - answer is to not run Excel 2007 in 'compatability mode'. Problem is (for those unfamiliar with Excel 2007), compatability mode automatically clicks in whenever you open a pre-2007 Excel file (xls extension). If you resave the file as Excel 2007 (xlsx extension), the pr...

Re: Citrix/Terminal Services

You'll probably find connection to the UK server directly via a locally installed client is really only a workable solution over a LAN. We have a TM1 server installed in London, with users distributed worldwide. Non-London users (until now - see below) have always connected to the London server via ...

Re: Riverbed WAN optimisation for TM1

We've Citrix in place and Riverbed optimisation at current client - where we've seen most benefit is in the time it takes our London TM1 server to access data from ledger systems in far flung locations via TI - time to run SQL extracts was cut by about 75% in some cases.

Re: startup hang after }StatsForServer

Security perhaps? We have added 60+ TM1 groups over the last couple days but with sparse user assignment. Quite possibly - I've been testing on 9.5 the last couple of days and noticed something similar. We've been taking a look at Contributor which automatically adds additional user groups to handl...

Re: 9.5 - TM1 Contributor - Approval Heirarchy

Tried that now, but same error as before;

"The heirarchy has more than one top level member"

Think I'm going to abort this testing for now - my account manager's been in touch and apparently we're not licensed for this due to being on 'legacy' contract

Re: Replication

Thanks Matt - lots for us to consider (and sorry to hear of your bad experiences). The way our models are organised, we're actually thinking a TI type approach to replication may be a good option - ie bypass the functionality in the system and use TI to synchronise data and structures on the differe...

Re: 9.5 - TM1 Contributor - Approval Heirarchy

That's a very simple suggestion that I really should have thought of myself! Only fly in the ointment may be; "All members in the subset used for your approval heirarchy must have only a single immediate parent" Which may also preclude alternative heirarchies - will give it a go though.......

Re: Replication

Just a bit of user frustration with Citrix - we'd like to use TM1 for so much more of our offices local reporting needs and Citrix seems to be the main barrier.

We're not definitely going down the replication route, but will pilot it in one location and see how things go
