Re: Register process via RestAPI

Rest API is much better tested, more complete and more stable than PAfE API. Best bet is to use Rest API via VBA. There will be a bit of effort in parsing MDX and transforming json response to tabular format but way less headaches overall.

Re: Action Button Bulk upload

I really think you need to understand what a TI process does, what data sources it can read, and how it works. There's a lot of information out there but you shoudl also think about a training course, there are some good online courses available nowdays.

Re: Bespoke Picklists

You can use a rule in the picklist cube (in fact whenever you use a picklist cube it's waaay more likely that you would use string rules versus data entry) and have logic in the rules to look up whatever you want and branch the picklist options based off that. Using dynamic subsets which are themsel...

Where it seems that this RFE is actually delivered just that no one at IBM bothered to document it.

Re: Upgrading from TM1 10.2.2 to Planning Analtyics Local ( is PAW required? )

...that is until we found out that you don't need a Workspace license to install it if you're only using it for PAx. After all certain CA licenses come with PAx licenses built in, so how else would you be able leverage it? The other caveat is that Workspace license is only required for end users. A...

Re: Weird process names

I’m not familiar with this concept at all. How or when is an unregistered process created? The Rest API allows to run an "unbound" or "unregistered" process where the process definition is passed, the process runs and then it's gone. The process is never registered as an object on the server and a ...

These are most likely unregistered processes which are created (and destroyed after executing) on the fly.

Re: Create MDX View To Suppress Rule-Defined Cells

I would be interestd to know exactly what your experiments were.

MDX view is no different from traditional view in this respect. There's no way to filter out rule calculated cells versus consolidatiosn or simple numeric cells.

Re: Does PAX/PAfE Action Button work in Perspectives?

Action buttons aren't compatible Perspectives <-> PAfE. This is why the workbooks need to be upgraded with the utility. So yes it's normal or expected that if you open the workbook afterwards in Perspectives that the buttons won't work.

Re: Moving elements under another element with a TI process

DimensionElementDelete deletes the element (and all data associated with the element).

DimensionElementComponentDelete removes the element from one of its parents. It does not delete the element, only the relationship. All data remains as it was.

... which is a known issue and has been recognized by IBM as a bug. Using alternate hierarchies in an MDX view as a datasource does in fact change the order in which dimensions are processed. I have a case linked to "PH24729 WRONG VARIABLE ASSIGNMENT ORDER IN MDX-VIEW PROCESSING" which has been ope...

This was discussed during the AMA on Feb 11th.

The short summary is that it won't be in the v11 server. It is something they will work on after the launch of the v12 "next generation" server.

Re: RunProcess Again

Are you running CubeSaveData in 'queue watcher' process? So the worker processes write values to the cube and watcher runs a CubeSaveData on every few seconds before reading the values from this cube to force a commit from a worker thread? Yes exactly. The worker thread still needs to have comitted...

Re: RunProcess Again

SYNCHRONIZED can manage parallel process and flow control, but it is probably easier to use the file semaphore methodology where a master process needs to track how many threads are running simultaneously and spawn another thread when a core is freed up. It is possible to keep track of the thread f...

I would also really like to know how Paul knew about this! I remember seeing it listed as a new feature in the 10.2.2 FPsomething release notes. But as there was nothing documented on how to use it I figured it was a documentation error, maybe somethgin they planned but never got to. And then never ...

Re: Creating Subset MDX with Alias

As declanr said already, the TM1FilterByPattern MDX function acts on the alias which is assigned to the subset. So if the fiter relied on a wildcard match on the principal element name and this string isn't present in the alias then you will end up with a null set. To build a more robust MDX you wil...

Re: Cube to Cube Consolidation

I tried CellIncrementN before. It correctly sums the Marze for the the first element of the A_VNO_G_Rada but it leaves the others blank. Code does what it is programmed to do. The CellIncrementN function is no exception and sums whatever it is instructed to. If the target cube is only ending up wit...
