Re: Dimension Order in an MDX cube view as datasource

Is the cube re-ordered ("optimized") in the order of the variables?
  • HRLevel
  • Period
  • Adjustments
  • Measure
  • Org
It then wouldn't be correct how the variables are being ordered, but it would offer an explaination.

Re: PAW Replace Columns with Element Attributes

The screenshot you attached looks like it is from the dimension administration (in which case it will work fine on a sheet in a book but only for administrators and not end users). In Perspectives you could just create a view of the }ElementAttributes cube but in Workspace control objects aren't acc...

Re: RunTI Issue

When loading data to a cube in multiple parallel threads, I always use BatchUpdateStart; and BatchUpdateFinishWait(0); to avoid locking and to speed up the load process. In this case, all commits waits until all parallel threads finish processing and reaches to BatchUpdateFinishWait(0);. Then all o...

Re: TI views using alternate hierarchies

Alternate hierarchies don't work with trad views (and never will). AFAIK if the source of a TI is "subset" then this works just fine with an alternate hierarchy. You just need to set DatasourceNameForServer = 'dimension:hierarchy' So if you want to use hierarchies in a view as a source for TI then y...

This user is only is this specific group, no others.
With all due respect, this categorically can't be the case. TM1 security is cumulative so the rights to the elements must be coming from another group the user belongs to.

Re: Method for handling Rules for Actuals/Forecast periods

If the forecast periods will actually be data input (either direct or loaded from external system) versus rule calculated then also consider not having a rule at all and just using cell security to ensure actuals are read only. Although I'm a big fan of rules, any time you can avoid rules and use in...

Re: RunTI Issue

Hi mce, Although RushTI may assist vs tm1runti by eliminating the overhead for authentication for each separate process execution I think you also really need to consider the design of the data-splitting. Both the number of distinct slices the load is split to and the dimension being used to segment...

Re: RushTI execution error

Which TM1 server version are you using?
The ExecuteWithReturn function used by RushTI was introduced in a more recent PAL version, 2.0.4 or 2.0.5. So if your server is 10.2.2 or early v11 it won't work.

Re: RulesOverwriteCellsOnLoad is NOT working

I found my root cause now. It is because of PersistentFeeders. I have that enabled and obviously, after disabling, RulsOverwriteCellsOnLoad works as expected. :D That's interesting. RulsOverwriteCellsOnLoad should be independent of PersistentFeeders! That this doesn't work when PersistentFeeders is...

Re: Uploading a TM1 Application through the REST API

You shouldn't need any workarounds to achieve this, Rest API or otherwise. Application folders is the one area of TM1 where you can give non-admin groups admin access within application folders (update, create, delete entries, create or delete sub-folders, etc.) End users can manage application fold...

Re: TI - Add new element in alphabetical order under consolidation

Sheesh this ran a little off topic. But while I'm here ... DimensionSortOrder sets properties for a dimension; the dimension is not actually sorted until it is saved on the server. You don't need a SaveDataAll or for that matter CubeSaveData('}DimensionProperties') What the documentation is saying, ...

Re: RunProcess and threads

I agree with what qml said, it's not really about the parallelization of processes ruining on different threads but much more about the commit model used in TI where only the TI processes belonging to the same transaction have access to changes they have made prior to the commit and merge with the b...

Re: Bedrock 4 for IBM Planning Analytics is available

As of today PA 2.0.7 (TM1 11.5) is available on Fix Central . In this version the new RunProcess function (which has been present but incognito) is officially supported. The new bedrock library already optionally makes use of RunProcess in processes which deal with reading and writing cube data. }be...

Wait?

Is runprocess already in 2.0.6? I thought I had to wait until 2.0.7 which is getting constant delays.

Or is 2.0.7 already on the cloud plattform?
It's in 2.0.6 (11.4) it just isn't either announced, documented, nor officially supported until 2.0.7.

Re: RunProcess and threads

Although I have not used RunProcess just yet, but if I understand it correctly by using Rest API, TM1 does not need to log the user in and out (causing a lock) anymore as it used to happen with TM1RunTI? Typical workaround used to be to create a tone of admin accounts... Yes, the user ID of the par...
