Re: 9.5.2 FP2 critical bug: mass data clearance across cubes

Kamil ... thanks for sharing this very informative description. We also experienced a similar catastrophic data loss a few months back when we were still on 9.5.1. A READ ONLY user, with no access to TIs, initiated, in the same second, an apparently random blitz across 10 or so unlinked cubes. We co...

Thanks tomok. One of those little wrinkles that probably makes you want to use Unload sparingly in a complex inter-dependent server.

Sanity Check on Feeders and Unloading Cubes

If cube A feeds cube B, and cube B is unloaded and reloaded, I would NOT expect the A=>B feeder to refire unless A is also unloaded/reloaded or it's rules amended and resaved. Hence B will not consolidate correctly until all cubes on which it depends (or their rules) are also recycled. Is that corre...

Is it readable by rules, and could it therefore function as a way of distributing reference data (like FX rates) across servers?

Re: Isn't TM1 Vulnerable due to file structure?

Alan .............. I don't disagree with the general point that TM1 is as secure as any other system. However, is it not the case that all users need write access to the TM1 data directory so that their views can be stored? I'm not sure that these are done in the name of the Service Account. On a r...

Re: TM1 High Availability Architecture

We run 20+ instances on 5 physical boxes and do not use failover. Because of the "plug and play" nature of TM1 data directories it has never been difficult (in fact it is childishly easy) to swap out data directories into a different box in the case of problems - or if you simply wish to s...

Re: Data did not reflected in cube but its in Transaction lo

This is probably the least likely explanation of your problem, but reflects a strange experience we had. We're on 9.5.1 and find that the log files occasionally corrupt by adding a seemingly random value into the (normally blank or "empty quote") first field. When this happened (and it onl...

Re: Data Precision

... the answer, per IBM, is 15 digits. The reply has now been published as a Technote on the IBM website. So if you have 6 digits to the left of the decimal point, you can only have 9 on the right ....etc etc.

Re: Data Precision

David ... thanks for that. I had searched the database (and FAQs) but found nothing precise enough. Unless I misread, the one you pointed me to concedes that he has "no idea" where the decimal limit is. He is also talking only about the decimal limit rather than the whole number. I can fol...

Can anyone tell me whether there is a maximum number of digits (before or after the decimal point) that TM1 can hold in a cell?

Re: Strange Wildcard selection behaviour

... thanks for the quick response. I should have added that we are running on Windows. So I would expect an ascending alphanum sort (and it worked this way for the first 6 iterations of the process).

Re: TM1 crashes using Citrix

We are having the same problem with Excel 2003 and 9.5.1, though as we only use Citrix and cannot connect locally, I was not aware that Citrix might be the issue. Cam: not clear to me why the local Excel version (if this what you mean by "client") would have any impact if you are working i...

Re: TM1 web - fail to export websheet to pdf and excel

Check that PDFCamp printer driver is properly installed and is the default printer on the web server. Check that the service account for the TM1 Excel Service on the web server has local admin rights on the server as it needs to write to the registry.

Re: Is TM1 9.5x stable?

We are 4 days into an upgrade from 9.1.3 to 9.5.1. Server stability is (so far) OK. However, we are already getting a lot of anecdotal reports of instability and Excel crashes on the Client side. Our client installation is in Citrix. This seems particularly to relate to situations where users are br...

... yes, we experience this too with 9.1.3. After a while Aliases cease to function on the server. The only solution is to restart the service or recompile the dimension (eg: by making a "comment" change and saving). Supposed to be fixed from 9.1.4 onward.
