Can't say I've come across any limits, we have a fairly large csv source file with 105 columns which handles fine and 82 columns over ODBC ...

I've had similar problems in the past and the problem was down to the User Access Control (UAC) settings on Vista. Can't quite recall the reasons but I had to turn it off before the installation would complete.
