Do multiple hierarchies use more memory?
Hi, quite a basic theoretical question - if I have multiple hierarchies in my dimension, what scale of memory/cube increase will there be? e.g. will 2 hierarchies take up twice the memory of a single hierarchy?
thanks
Marc
thanks

Re: Indexes - more info required
thanks for your comments Steve. Indexes aren't used in the dimension build processes, I was just trying to use them for my own benefit to debug what was going on with certain elements.
thanks for clearing it up

Re: Indexes - more info required
If an element was listed under an 'invalid codes' parent, then it got added to another part of the hierarchy (i.e. now listed twice in the hierarchy), then the element got removed from the 'invalid codes' parent - would you expect the index to have changed at all from what it was at the start? (afte...

Re: Indexes - more info required
thanks for responding Wim. Lots of overnight processes is obviously far from ideal but thats how it is, the system works and I dont have the time to redesign it! (I didn't build the system). And yes, there are several processes that interact with this dimension so I'm not looking for specific help w...

Indexes - more info required
Hi I am trying to understand a problem with some elements moving oddly, and for that I have a few questions regarding indexes. If I move an element to a different point in the hierarchy, will the index change? What if the element becomes listed twice in the hierarchy? We are running 9.1.4, we restar...

Re: Virtual Server
Hi Kirk, let me know how you get on - I am in the same boat, they are currently building me a virtual server for 9.5.1. I'm not expecting any quirks specifically because its virtual, but if you come across anything unusual then please post!
Thanks

Re: Any seen my cube?!
Unfortunately I've just had the same problem occur, with exactly the same cube. As before it worked when I renamed the cube file and restarted the server, but its quite worrying!
Will post if I am able to determine what caused the problem.

Re: Any seen my cube?!
thanks garry I did indeed rename the .cub$ file and by the sounds of it I have been very lucky in that after the restart it came back absolutely fine! :) I also followed your good suggestion of looking for other $ files but there were none. Seems to me like it was a one off oddity, lets hope it does...

Any seen my cube?!
Hi We're running Tm1 9.1.4, noticed one of the views stopped working - "cube 'Billing Category' not found"! Had a look in architect and the cube had indeed totally vanished! This is a permenent cube, fairly small and uncomplicated. Initially I could not even find 'Billing category.cub', ho...

Re: Unknown crashes in 9.1.4
Just a quick update, I ran the same model on our qa server which has less memory, and as expected it did crash shortly after fully loading up. However this time the tm1 logs contained the following: 3916 ERROR 2010-11-10 16:30:52,077 TM1.Server.Memory CommonAlloc - alloc (size = 131072) failed: The ...

Re: Unknown crashes in 9.1.4
As the day has gone on I have noticed the memory usage creep up to nearer 14/15 gb, so I have kicked off the procedure to get another 16gb added in

Re: Unknown crashes in 9.1.4
Memory usage runs to about 12.6gb, on our 64 bit server which has 16gb of RAM. We typically have between 10 and 20 simultaneous users, and when one of them runs a process it usually holds up other people's views. Do you think some extra RAM would help?

Unknown crashes in 9.1.4
Apologies for the lack of detail I am able to provide on this issue, but that is precisely the problem! We are running 9.1SP4 (along with EV 9.4). I keep seeing this problem occur in our production environment, where a user runs a process from an action button, within 2 or 3 mins of the process succ...

Re: TM1 9.5.1 compatibility with Executive Viewer 9.4?
thankyou. Any idea on the support period for this version? If it is not specifically mentioned, then what is the typical support period for TM1 versions? I looked at lots of the support pages but was unable to find anything.
Thanks

TI datatype problem?
Hi I am currently a bit stuck on a TI process that doesn't always work. All I am doing is moving some user entered data onto different elements within the same dimension. The data source is a TM1 view, in the prolog I send some elements and subsets to the source view. All the items in the Variables ...

TM1 9.5.1 compatibility with Executive Viewer 9.4?
Hi We are currently using TM1 9.1.4 with Executive Viewer 9.4. As the product support for TM1 9.1.4 runs out in december we have started looking at the upgrade path. I have not seen anything about a newer version of Executive viewer, so does anyone know if EV will work with 9.5.1? Also, any general ...
