Re: Career Path while developing TM1?
Congrats on your step up. That does sound like a really great transition. The way our company is structured though, we have a team of analysts that all report up to one woman. Their team already handles the budgeting/forecasting for the company on a sales side.

Career Path while developing TM1?
I know this question comes out of left field but you're definitely the people to ask. I am planning my career path and am looking at a next step so I'd like to hear from each of you as to what you're doing and how you got there. I worked as a Financial Analyst for a couple of years, moved to my curr...

Re: Created a dynamic subset. It works in TM1, not in DBRW!
Oddly enough, refreshing security worked. Perhaps it's because we're using rule based security but I'd figure as an admin it shouldn't matter. Another one of those great TM1 "features."

Created a dynamic subset. It works in TM1, not in DBRW!
I created a dynamic subset on my server and it works. It has elements in it as it should. I can use it in a cube view within Architect or Perspectives. However, when I use it within a DBRW formula, I get a Key*Error. What's really interesting is that if I make a cube view and do a slice, recalculate...

Re: Published TM1 cube through Cognos BI. Question on Null V
Thanks. I posted on a BI forum but haven't heard anything. I think part of the problem is that it seems very few people are publishing TM1 cubes through Cognos. Despite IBM touting how great it is, the integration hasn't been easy but we're almost there. I think their lack of planning turned off a l...

Published TM1 cube through Cognos BI. Question on Null Value
We have a TM1 cube that we're pushing out through Cognos BI and viewing in Analysis Studio. The speed is phenomenal and it's working pretty great but we have one tweak we'd like to make. If an intersection does not have a value (think a sales rep that hasn't sold a particular item), the cell in Anal...

Creating a slimmed down version of a massive cube
We have a sales cube with thousands of items, customers, etc. I want to create a slimmed down version of this cube (only 4 dimensions instead of 11, and only consolidated elements for the item numbers, customers, etc) for reporting purposes and thought about making a rule. Since our various distribu...

TM1 cube published in Cognos. Delay in updating?
Greetings: We have a TM1 cube published in Cognos 10 and it's working great right now. I created an alias for each dimension called "CognosFormat" to simplify creating user-friendly names for our items, customers, etc. That all works well for us. I can go in and change numbers and run a si...

Re: Perspectives suddenly having problems opening
Funny, but just a few minutes after posting, my colleague found a development server is offline. It seems Perspectives is trying to find that server until it gives up and loads. Taking the server out of the options cleared up the problem for us. I'm surprised this hasn't happened to me in the years ...

Perspectives suddenly having problems opening
We recently upgraded our TM1 installation (TM1 Build Number: 10.1.00100.24600) and our server hardware. Things were going smoothly until a few days ago when suddenly our Perspectives started taking a really long time to open (1-3 minutes) for our users. I'm unsure of the best way to diagnose this is...

Rollup Button failing?
We have an unusual bug with TM1 Perspectives 10.1.1 right now where going into a dimension, selecting some elements and pressing Rollup doesn't do anything. The button depresses but the user isn't taken back to the cube viewer. Instead, clicking the button multiple times will finally take the user b...

Re: ViewConstruct not helping me speed things up in Excel
Thanks for the fast reply. Calculation mode is set to manual. I'll open a file and hit F9 and sit back and wait. It is incredibly tedious.
So looking at the VIEW function, I would be using that in lieu of DBRW's?

ViewConstruct not helping me speed things up in Excel
I have some pretty large spreadsheets that I update monthly. If I simply open one up, it takes approximately 15 minutes to calculate as it is full of DBRW formulas. They DBRW's are very similar and reference a very specific set of data. I went into Architect and created a view that contains these sa...

TM1 cube through Cognos Analysis Studio - Using attributes?
We're using Cognos now to publish TM1 cubes and would like to use the element attributes of our customer dimension within Analysis studio. As an example, we have a dimension that has all of our customers listed. Those customers have an attribute that tells us what type they are (end user, wholesaler...

YTD Grouped in TM1?
We currently have YTD Grouped in our Cognos 8 cubes (a time period grouping of YTD, PYTD, the diference between the two, and the growth %). Now that we're pushing TM1 cubes out through Cognos 10, we'd like to still have that YTD Grouped in those Cognos cubes. Therefore, I need to create it in TM1. A...

Locking down prior months?
Is there an easy way in TM1 to lock down prior months? I don't want users to be able to change data in months that are closed. Is there a best practice for this or is changing the security to read only for a given dimension the way to go?
