Re: COG-310 Tips
With my cynical hat on , it's a money spinner for IBM. TM1 is a cash cow. No two ways about it. I suspect there's a large number of employers out there that have paid IBM to come and install TM1 , they now have it sitting in a pretty box and need someone to make it work. As they have no idea how it ...

Hi,
we use TM1 primarily for BI and it performs admirably. I guess it really depends how big your model and your box is

Re: IBM Blueprints
I'd love to skim read the blueprints. But like Alan so eloquently put it, navigating through the maze of logins and links on the IBM site is harder than finding your way though Hampton Court Maze. And then you have to get the password. I wonder if it is just part of a recruitment test for the intell...

Re: What's the right way to feed children?
You've got that dead right declanr; the only problem is that I don't know what the leaf level values are, only the monthly values. I forgot to say that because I can't load the values to C level, I've created extra elements that represent months. I load the monthly values there and am using attribut...

What's the right way to feed children?
Apologies for the subject line being so open to witty replies but..... I've got budget data at a monthly level and I want the cube to calculate daily budget values. I've populated a 'daysinmonth' attribute for every day so I can write a rule that does the calculation. As a rookie Tm1 developer thoug...

But of course, if you do it in the report, you open the door to other users doing it in the report, and then doing it differently and then giving two different answers

Loading Data to a Consolidation
Hi all, I know I can't load data at a consolidated level, but I'm trying to explain to the pointy haired boss why not. To me it 'feels' wrong (possibly I've been using TM1 too long), but I can't come up with a concrete example of why it would be 'wrong' to do so. I sort of sense that it would mean t...

Re: Adolf Vs Windows 8 (semi-OT for entertainment purposes)
Alan, I salute you sir for being someone else that won't jump on the WPF bandwagon and hasn't fallen for the lure of XML. I've yet to see a use case for XML where comma delimited doesn't work just fine (although that may simply be because I don't move in the right circles). I do think .net is here f...

Re: TM1 Training
I've got a colleague that needs some Tm1 training. We've got quite specific needs as we're using Tm1 primarily for BI rather than as a financial tool. If our needs are similar to yours, perhaps we could join forces to tailor a Quebit course. Failing that I can see myself having to deliver a 'course'...

Re: Rename TM1 admin host
Resurrecting this as it's not TOO old. But... I'd like to use the semicolon separation of server names and have two different admin host names, so I can clearly see which 'servers' I'm connecting to. At the moment I'm using the workaround of prefixing UAT servers, but it's a bit ugly. Far better in ...

TM! Architect ComboBox Dropdown Empty
I've spent months unable to use architect on my PC because the dropdowns are empty. It seems it was a Wacom tablet I'd installed causing the error. I'm not sure if it's uninstalling the Wacom drivers or the 'Tablet features' via control panel that ultimately fixed it though. Sorry for being a bit od...

Re: Cognos Report Performance Issue - TM1Cube as Data Source

Re: Backus–Naur Form for TM1 Syntax
I'd never heard of it till now. After a bit of Wikipedia I think I grasp it and now the question that comes to mind is why? I would suspect, that if you have a BN or something similar, then it would be very possible to write a decent rules editor. I keep starting this project myself, but it's a who...

Re: Sort a TI created subset
I suspect IBM would argue there is no need for TM1 to order subsets and the client tool should be responsible, probably via MDX?

What's your favourite TM1 rules editor?
I haven't seen the TM1 10 yet, so don't know if it's any better. Personally I use the standard editor, although the advanced one should be more user friendly, it just annoys me, I can't quite put my finger on why! I have seen the Excel rules editor advocated as the best (mainly because you can store...

I don't know the whole picture, but can you use a vbscript to connect to exchange and send the email , rather than using outlook?
If you have access to SQL server then you could use that for the email?
