Re: Latency Dilema
Thanks Tomok I did of course forget to mention that a small number of my users do indeed connect to global TM1 applications on slow connections using RDP and indeed this does work well. Educating users where to save remote local files, however provides endless fun! Thanks the tip about PA local That...

Latency Dilema
Hi all I'm interested in the thoughts of the community on deployment of TM1 to global users through a single instance My current architecture is multi-local with replication* Most users connect to LAN-based TM1 via the traditional Excel addin which works well. *(and yes, this is still v9.5.2 sp3) Mo...

Re: SSL breaks on Nov 24
This approach also enables a rather neat managable solution for deploying the change across multiple clients and servers At the client, the certificate authority file is in the client options dialog. Retain the existing applixca and deploy tm1ca_v2 to the bin\ssl folder in advance of making server c...

Re: SSL breaks on Nov 24
Update I now have 9.5.3 (non production of course) working on the v2 certs :D :ugeek: All I did was to rename the 3 certificate files to their given Applix names and to replace the 3 files in the server bin\ssl folder and replace the applixca.pem in the client bin\ssl folder (default file names are ...

Re: SSL breaks on Nov 24
Hi there I'm working on the expectation that the interim fix will contain updated 1024 bit certificate files All that would be needed is to replace the three pem files on the server ssl folder and the applixca.pem on the clients My production environment is on 32bit 9.5.2 sp3 so I am expecting that ...

Re: Changing wireless internet connection stops TM1 service
Here's my hot tip for running a local edition of tm1 without suffering when network configuration changes 1) Disconnect from wired and switch off wireless This ensures that your machine's IP address is now the loopback 127.0.0.1 2) Stop any TM1 services - if running in foreground, close the admin se...

Re: Excel addin issues 9.5.2 fp1
I have also been using TM1 via Excel for Sooo long and have an established optimised build process based on the necessary client components I can confirm that for a fully functioning TM1 Excel client, only 2 dlls need to be registered - you need to be local admin to do this Here is an extract from m...

Sharing Sandboxes
Sandboxes are a great feature to allow people to carry out private what-ifs against cubes during a planning task What would be even better would be a way to share this with colleagues - a collaborative sandbox. Given that sandboxes are built from the sandbog logs, I suppose that it is possible to co...

Access to logging folder via TI
Hi all I was contemplating creating custom logging of TI process activity - to capture parameters etc I could hard-code the path to the logging folder - but thought it would be better to pick up the logging path from the system - as declared in tm1s.cfg Any ideas? I didn't see anything in TI variabl...

Re: TM1Top 9.4
This error is caused by the absence of the correct MS VC80 runtimes Since 9.4, TM1 is compiled with version 8.0.50727.762 and is probably missing from the target machine These components are stored in the Windows\SXS folder This comes from the VC++ redistributable 2005 sp1 - download and install it ...

Interesting? new feature - the 951 installation adds a new folder Trui, containing transui_dll.dll.
This appears to be connected with Cognos Transformer
Both TM1 Architect and the Excel Addin complain if it is missing

Integration of data from multiple TM1 servers
I have a number of TM1 servers distributed around the world - all running TM1 v9.1.4 (32 bit) They run local variations of a financial planning application and although dimensions and cubes are similar, they have enjoyed a certain amount of local development. The challenge I am now addressing is how...

TI copying data in mixed - text and numbers cube
Hi everyone I thought this would be easy but... I have a standardised TI process to copy data between cubes - or within cubes This is relatively simple - data source is a view - manipulate subsets and views in the Prolog and push data across in the Data tab So far this works well and I've been able ...

TM1 Login Speed
I was wondering if anyone has observed the differences in Excel client login speed. I am using 9.1sr4 with Excel 2003 sp3. If I login via Server Explorer - double-click the server name - the login dialogue appears almost immediately Contrast that with the Excel menu or toolbar option - it takes abou...

Re: No return() or halt() function found on macro sheet
I've seen this error message many times
It ocurrs with the old forms drawing objects in Excel 2003 and later
I have often used these for dropdown lists for navigating TM1 data in Excel reports.
My solution is to replace these with data-validation list items

Re: TI to copy data within a cube
A bit of a delay on my reply - but finally... Gregor indeed has the right idea - thanks for putting me on the right track To clarify: One of my most-used TM1 models manages a rolling planning function. I need to maintain visibility of last month's forecast, the one before... up to 3 generations back...

TI to copy data within a cube
For years, I've used the Excel process worksheets to copy data between scenarios within cubes. I use a simple looking Excel macro driven workbook to enable users to do this task without assistance - enter dimension items in a table - click a button to create a query file and process Now, finally, it...

Re: 9.4 Released today
New problem - and solution... My working 913 system gets corrupted when I start a 9.4 server against it (copied to a new folder of course). It appears that a number of .dim files that have been around for years are not compatible with 9.4 They were created under version 6 and have never needed chang...

Re: 9.4 nasty problem
I've installed 9.4 on a VMWare Workstation virtual machine - catch me putting it on my live environment! I encountered some config issues on Excel - thought "No problem, I can copy the bin directory out to my main machine and run Perspectives/Architect there, just like I've always done if I wa...
