Re: Dimension Open, Excel 365 (2016) 64 bit and 10.2.2 Automation Error Crash
I have a client with the same issue - opening developer options/ "dimension open" causes excel to crash with Excel O365 and Excel 2019 MSO 64 bit. This same issue has been reproduced using PA 2.0.8 and 10.2.2 under the O365, using Planning Sample. They need to use the developer feature as ...

Perspectives Ribbon Missing on Excel 2016 (Office 365)
Hi, My client has recently upgraded user hardware to Windows 10 / Office 365 (click to run, 64 Bit) They installed the 64 bit version of perspectives, which went smoothly. Apon opening excel, the 'Planning Analytics' navy blue square appears as it should, but the app is not present in the ribbon . N...

Re: TM1 Java Process - CPU and Memory Utilization
Hi Paul Simon We've just had a similar problem as this - the java.exe process running at 100% allocated RAM and 100% CPU for a while before hanging. eventually the system produced a massive dmp file in Bin64 (core.dmp) (24gb) Tried increasing the allocated RAM way beyond recommended settings but thi...

Re: How to reference data lines as variables in TI?
Truncation to do with using Expand https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_ref.2.0.0.doc/r_tm1_ref_tifun_expand.html That string has a fixed minimum length of 10 characters. If the converted number is too small to fill 10 characters, it is padded with le...

Re: How to reference data lines as variables in TI?
Having discovered Expand function, it certainly is very helpful.
Any suggestions on how to get around the truncation issue? my values are all decimal places eg 0.00123456, the process requires a higher degree of accuracy

Re: Issues with new instance
Someone stop me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can only have one local server running on a machine? Can you check both config files for both versions to check that you have different values for PortNumber= HTTPPortNumber= I know HTTPPortNumber needs to be different in 10.3 Is the main model on a di...

Re: Issues with new instance
Ok, so the config file hasn't been overwritten when you copied the original db folder.
Your File locations have been changed as well, I presume?
Is your client - eg Architect/Perspectives looking at local server or have you specified the admin host IP address?

Re: What can cause variability in recalculation times?
Hi Duncan Yes, I write a cell in the cube to clear it prior to each refresh of the calculation. (and then delete that value) I didn't determine what happened to the cube, however though rebuilding the model's design and removing a dimension, Ive brought the recalc speeds down to around 2 min, so hap...

How to reference data lines as variables in TI?
Hi All I am attempting to automate a data load of curves into my model, which has potentially hundreds of columns of data. Aside from initial data points, the naming convention TI has selected works for me ; eg Coll1 Coll2 .. Coll500 etc. The cube I am loading to has a dimension with '1','2' .. etc....

What can cause variability in recalculation times?
Hi All I have been challenged to improve the performance of our budgeting model. It is very slow ~ over 15 minutes for a system recalc on average. I have also been required to set challenging SLA's for system performance, which I will be held to and have to report against. As such I have been workin...

PAX - Does it have rules tracer?
Hi All
My business is considering updating from 10.2.2 to 10.3.
We use perspectives via Citrix for user interaction, because our users need access to Rules Tracer.
I couldn't find a specific mention of rules tracer being available in PAX.

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
Thanks Paul It is time consuming, but to avoid network as a variable I've run the initial tests 1 at a time on the server itself, so should be direct, with at worst one or two other processes running (ive capped the MTQ to 25% of server capacity to help prevent that sort of related variability while...

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
Thanks, I thought as much about the 64bit. I totally understand that the model is a factor, its incredibly complex, legacy and I've been tasked with migrating it to a new accounting standard. It absolutely is overfed, poorly designed and all that. But it works, and I don't have time to fix and test ...

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
Ok, thanks. The base issue, regardless of model performance, is a material time differential between the two access methods for the same view refresh. So what I am hearing is that there should be minimal/immaterial lag/time variance between excel/Perspectives plugin and TM1. There are no settings I ...

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
To clarify, the issue is a view created in perspectives (within the GUI, not a slice) takes longer then Architect.

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
ive read somewhere on the forum this: "Architect seems to go tcp/ip direct to the Server whereas Perspectives is using the WebServer IIS. Tomcat etc (ours is IIS) so it will always run more slowly." http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1081 Is there anyway to tweek Tomcat (which I am us...

Re: Performance of Architect Vs Perspectives
Yes, MTQ is set to 6, and the view creation in Excel is run through perspectives rather then a data pull through excel
