Re: automation error

Update : Solution Found... This morning I got the error on my desktop as well after Windows Updates were automatically installed on my computer. Through the advice of our tech guy I followed the instructions for Windows 2007 and Excel 2007 (even though I am running Windows XP and Excel 2003/2007): P...

Re: automation error

I'm getting this same error on my work laptop (but not on my work desktop, nor is anybody else at work getting this error). I followed the steps at below link for both Excel 2003 and 2007 (I run both on my work laptop and desktop): http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21438688 These step...

Re: Object library invalid or contains references to...

Thanks Allan for solving that problem for me. Just came in Sunday evening to do some work on one of our TM1 severs, and got that same error. Now I did not change anything (like install or reinstall Excel or Perspectives). It was working when I left Friday, and today I get that same error message as ...

Re: Need help with feeder stmt...

Thanks tomak - that's my sentiment exactly, and I just recently was informed our Director managed to secure some consulting funding! Hoping to build off the good advice here. I very much appreciate the helpfulness of this forum and would like to thank all who contribute here. I look forward to the d...

Re: Need help with feeder stmt...

Robin thanks for your reply... Just to clarify, the reason we went with TM1 was to overcome weaknesses in the Meditech Budgeting system - being no history of changes, not-self balancing, no way to automate adjustments - so all manual calculations and overwriting of previous balances. Budget Analysts...

Re: Need help with feeder stmt...

Martin... Thanks for weighing in. Your sound advice in the past and now are greatly appreciated and has been extremeky helpful. I could use some elaboration on drilling through to transaction cube or using tranactions ti to update balances cube. I am not familiar with drilling thru and don't know ho...

Re: Need help with feeder stmt...

Thanks David/jydel for your assistance. I tried David's revised feeder rule resulting in only a slight improvement in performance. Instead of crashing after 5 minutes or so, it completes ok after 5 minutes or so. Again this is a filtered view at one of our EX levels which is a consolidated view of a...

Need help with feeder stmt...

I have a GL Actual Transactions cube feeding a GL Actual Balances cube. I am having trouble getting the feeders correct for the GL Actual Balances cube. I am an accountant and very new to developing with TM1. The business rules work fine when viewing a small sample of data. When I try a consolidated...

Re: Save Data/Server Shutdown/Backup questions...

Thanks lotsaram, very helpful... I (again, not knowing a lot about the server side) have been given security access to stop, query, and start the server from a dos window using these sample commands: sc \\eh-cognos stop budgetingtest sc \\eh-cognos query budgetingtest sc \\eh-cognos start budgetingt...

Re: Save Data/Server Shutdown/Backup questions...

Thanks qml... I didn't think of looking for the saved log file and new one being created. I'll check that out. Anyone know why a ServerShutDown(0); run from a ti process only takes down the TM1 client and not the server? Does it work when running TM1 Server as an application but not when running TM1...

Re: Save Data/Server Shutdown/Backup questions...

Thanks tomok for your response. My reason for wanting to take down the server to do backups is two fold: - The IBM Cognos TM1 Back-up and Recovery Guide states that doing a live backup has the potential risk of a loss of data between "saves" if the data directory files become corrupt. - Al...

Save Data/Server Shutdown/Backup questions...

Save Data/Server Shutdown/Backup questions... I've done a lot of reading/searching the internet/this forum and IBM documentation, and not finding it easy to put this together. I am an accountant (so be gentle) and have been the sole developer of our TM1 budgeting applications for about two years now...

Re: Need help with a specific Feeder stmt...

Thanks Martin, that works perfectly. Your knowledge, experience and time is greatly appreciated. For the benefit of anyone else using this thread, this is the two extra rules I added in the GL Budget Balances Revised cube as my fiscal year-end is March: ['Open Bal', 'Year 2011-12'] = C: ['Open Bal',...

Re: Need help with a specific Feeder stmt...

Thanks rozef for your response. However, I tried your suggestion and it does not give the correct value for Open/Close Bal, they are still a total of the 12 periods Open/Close Bal. Both your solution and mine (['Close Bal' ] =C:['Open Bal' ] + ['BUD Adjs' ] ; ) revives my problem of the processor ru...

Re: Need help with a specific Feeder stmt...

OK I think I have it - I added the following consolidation level rule ['Close Bal' ] =C:['Open Bal' ] + ['BUD Adjs' ] to get the correct Open/Close Bal for the consolidated Fiscal Year totals as in my revised rules below: cube: GL Budget Balances Revised SKIPCHECK; ['BUD Adjs']= N: DB('GL Budget Adj...

Re: Need help with a specific Feeder stmt...

Thanks for your response Martin. I've made all the changes you suggested and it is really snappy now. However, my only problem is my fiscal year consolidation of the periods for the Open Bal and Close Bal is a sum of the 12 months, and not what the Open Bal and Close Bal should be for the fiscal yea...

Re: Need help with a specific Feeder stmt...

rozef/ajain86 thanks for the responses. To clarify, ANN is not a consolidation of the 12 periods APR-MAR, It is the annual budget amount for the transaction which is the total of the periods, but in this case it is no different than the 12 period amounts. I've cleared the Bud Adjs transaction of 90,...
