Ive seen a similar issue - it was to do with the name resolution of the tm1 server in the pm hub config.
Can you log with IBM support and let me know the PMR and I will ensure that the IBM dev team follow up with support.

Re: Java Heap Space Error
Have a look in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\IBM
For a Cognos Insight folder and look for cognosinsight.ini.
Look for the -XMx setting
I believe it is 1.5gig. You might want to try increasing this.

Re: Diffculty connecting to TM1 Mobile Contributor
For mobile contributor you should be prompted for the host in the form of - web_server_name.domain_name.com And there is a separate field for the port - typically 9510. The application actually talks to the pmhub - so it is assuming (hardcorded I guess) that the pmhub is running off that url at http...

Re: Is it better having TM1 on cloud?
check out this video for how anaplan deals with this ...
http://vimeo.com/37695262
its essentially a process that you run on the client machine which connects to ODBC/JDBC sources and then posts the data into anaplan.

Re: Is it better having TM1 on cloud?
Bear in mind TM1 on cloud is as much a new subscription licensing model as it is anything else. As many have pointed out its been feasible to run on cloud for some time, but IBM hasnt allowed a subscription based pay for what you use SaaS based licensing model. This is really what TM1 on cloud is. I...

No - this can work without an install of Cognos BI. You will need a tm1 server and an instance of the tm1 applications server running.

Re: How to distribute workspace in Insight
In order to work offline, you need to deploy the application using peformance modeler ... and make sure that you have selected "IBM Cognos Insight - Distributed" as one of the allowed clients. See here for more information - http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/ctm1/v10r1m0/index.jsp?topic=%2...

Looks like you are in "connected" mode. As far as I know work offline is only available in "distributed" mode ...

Re: Anyone using Microstrategy on top of TM1?
I have heard anecdotally that it works as an excellent reporting solution on top of TM1. I cant really say much more than that ... but its definitely worth trying especially if you have mobile/tablet reporting requirements. Interested to hear if anyone has first hand experience of this.

Re: Interaction between Cognos 8 and TM1 Contributor
I think the portal folders get created when you deploy the contributor apps - have you deployed the apps since youve set up the C8 integration? ie I dont think the folders appear until you have deployed again.
