EP to TM1: How to consider validation rules?

Post by foogy »

Hi there,

I'm still new to TM1, but already got some overview on its features. The more I get into detail, the more I'm able to compare TM1 to EP, which I have advanced experience in. During the next months, most of our EP applications shall be migrated to TM1.

I've recently set up a TM1 10.1.1 infrastructure and everything is running fine now. I think the new Performance Modeler and TM1 Applications match best when thinking of migration from EP. But I'm totally missing any substitute for the validation rules known from EP.

Can someone provide ideas on that? Surely, I could create some kind of Validation cube just for validation purposes. But in terms of workflow in TM1 Applications, there is no way to prevent a user from submitting data when validation rules are not yet fulfilled.

Some of our EP applications heavily rely on validation rules to ensure data quality and plausibility and I'm not yet sure how to take this feature into account for a migration.

Once submitted, is there a way in TM1 to reject a package using some recurring TI process based on the fulfillment of validations (i.e. based on the entries in a separate validation cube)? Ideally, the user would also receive a message when rejected.

If someone has already collected experience in such migrations, I would appreciate a summary of the challenges that came up during a migration project.

Thank you.
