Greetings One and All

Post by Duncan Turner »

Hello to you all!

Been a while since I've had chance to look at the Applix forum and look what's happened in my absence

Sorry, who are you again? ;)

Glad to see you made it Duncan!

It's sad to see the old Forum go (not that it has yet, but it will (except as an archive) eventually), however it had become pretty clear that something had to be done to ensure that we had some kind of accessible and permanent home.

And thus... here we (or at least 30 of us so far) are. No Iboglixians yet that I know of, unfortunately. But it's still gathering traction, and will probably gain more if the plan to shut off e-mail notifications on the old Forum at the end of May continues. Cognos Communities (with its many and varied problems) isn't even an issue at this point, as you can tell from the ghost town that is the TM1 area over there.

Hey, the 'pedia is entirely freeware :)

I've been in a bit of an OLAP limbo for too long now... thinking of a career change back to the "old country" (one for Alan there!)

Is that THE Duncan Turner......it can't be! Wow, I thought you were a myth or at best one of Alan's split personalities.

It has been a while. Welcome back!

Sidebar - I feel the need to point out Alan has been MIA for a while and Duncan for a while as well. Then all of a sudden they both post on the same day. hmmmm The mystery of D Tuner continues. ;)

Duncan is a braver man than me. Dealing with womens problems. I only have one wife to deal with and once a month I have to get the tin helmet and jump behind the sand bags. Dealing with womens issues every day you'd have to wear full plate armour!!!

And your a braver man than me Jim lad - especially if we have any ladies reading this :o

It does seem as though a lot of us TM1 nerds are male (in spite of Stephen Waters attempt at sex change by proxy with his avatar over there on the Cognos forum a month or two back.)

Apart from Solana and Rebecca I'm struggling to think of any females who have frequented these forums. My wife would no doubt say they have too much sense :?

I recall that in the old Forum we also had Anne-Marie Rodd who worked out of a consulting outfit in Brisbane, and... I can't remember her name, something like Ann Greeth Tan? However I don't think that either of them had posted for a couple of years.

I know that one of my assistants used to lurk back in the days when she was my boss, though I don't think she ever posted.

Ann-Grete Tan (AG for short) works in the same firm that I do. I don't think she'd be terribly impressed or offended by this thread. She's the only consultant who is a woman in our firm and is probably quite adept at tuning out the odd comment like this. ;)

Yes, I can't say I love the photo part. Those photos were updated relatively recently... I basically had a full head of hair back when I first started working with TM1 and now... coincidence? :?

Not if you've been working with Web, no...

Of course, it may be time to hack your web site (or bribe your Webmaster) and replace your photo with something more... appropriate?

Alan,

Will you stop letting everybody else use my pictures. I don't have that many great ones taken of me. I like the those taken while film dusk til dawn but I'm a bit miffed off with the whole batman thing. You couldn't see my handsome mane under that costume,

Goerge... I mean Jim. (I'm only George while in the states.)

Speaking of pictures I recall a post on another forum
I can't believe you've transformed from Jason Bourne to ....
-Mark K

http://communities.cognos.com/home/message/4789#4789

Surprisingly enough there is a post from Alan and it hasn't been delete.

1) Maybe I should become a webmaster, there is money it to be made!
2) I am off to delete every pic of me that is online.... Maybe I will leave the one up with me in the Speed-o (search at your own risk!)

To be fair to our Iboglix friends, I was the one who deleted all of my avatars / images etc, not them. I did so after I smelt the wind over there and didn't like what my olfactory senses detected.

"Hmm, interesting and fruity bouquet... I believe it's from the Brandenburg Gate area, actually just east of there... hmmm, circa 1975, I believe?"

Or possibly New South Wales, circa July 2008 (http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/tho ... 46009.html)

But your new avatar is so, ummm... photogenic!

Thankfully there are very few OLAP administrators under the age of 12, or you'd probably be getting lots of e-mails from irate mothers about their kids waking screaming in the night.
